Configure Screen: (SafeScan software, continued)
• COM Port: Select the COM Port for the PC Data Cable: "USB Serial Port".
Note: The PC Data Cable must be plugged in to see it listed.
• Save Preferences: Select if you want the Reports to be saved to the
"My Documents/SafeScan Reports" folder or to your "Desktop".
• Configure the SafeScan Scanner: (see screenshot below)
Important: Follow these steps if the unit is not already configured:
1. Select CONFIGURE from the menu in the SafeScan software.
1. Enter the total number of Bins (Silos/Buildings/Rows/etc.) to be scanned.
2. Select the Bin that you wish to configure.
3. Enter a name for the Bin.
4. Enter the number of Cables and number of TCs for the cables in the Bin.
Enter individually, or enter rings/rows of cables as a "Group" of cables.
F Configuration changes must be transferred to the handheld Scanner:
1. Press the SETUP key on the Scanner, scroll down to select CONFIGURE
then press SCAN. "Waiting" will appear on screen.
2. Click the "Transfer Configuration... " button on the Configure screen in
the software (see below) to start the transfer. Note: All previous data
on the Scanner will be erased when the configuration is changed.

    • Permanently archive all temperature and Ohms data. F Keep the SafeScan Jack Handle dry. • Graph the temperatures and display a table with color-coded alarms. • Create and print reports. SafeScan Digital Handheld Scanner The SafeScan Scanner quickly scans the temperature cables connected to a Safe-Grain Central Reading Station (CRS). It automatically saves the 7 most recent temperature scans and an Ohms scan. Scanner Operation POWER: Press and hold the Power button to turn the Safe-Grain, Inc. www.safegrain.com unit on or off. The display will dim after 30 seconds of non-use. Pressing any key will CABLE brighten the display. The unit will automatically turn off after 1 minute of non-use. SCAN The most recent temperature data will display when the unit is turned on or when the Bin/Cable is changed. The Date and Time will be highlighted RECALL SETUP yellow if the data is old (not today’s data).
