    Hybrid System Your vehicle is a hybrid vehicle. It has characteristics different from conventional vehicles. Be sure you are closely familiar with the characteristics of your vehicles, and operate with care. The hybrid system combines a gasoline engine and an electric motor (traction motor) according to driving conditions, improving fuel efficiency and reducing exhaust emissions.

    EV Drive Mode In EV drive mode the electric motor (traction motor), powered by the hybrid battery (traction battery), is used to drive the vehicle. This mode allows you to drive in residential areas early in the morning or late at night, or indoor parking lot etc.

    Parking Brake For the parking brake, an electrical parking brake system is adopted. ■ Manual mode To set the parking brake: push the parking brake switch. U.S.A CANADA To release the parking brake: pull the parking brake switch. Operate the parking brake switch while depressing the brake pedal.

    Brake Hold The brake hold system keeps the brake applied when the shift lever is in “D”, “S” or “N” with the system on and the brake pedal has been depressed to stop the vehicle. To turn the system on, press the “HOLD” switch. The brake hold standby indicator comes on.

    Headlights Type A The instrument panel, side marker, parking, tail, daytime running lights and license plate lights turn on.     Fuel Tank Cap Press the fuel filler door opener. Refueling will be possible when a message on the multi-information display indicates that the door fuel filler door has opened. Slowly remove the cap by turning it counter- clockwise. After the cap is removed, it can be hung on the inside of the fuel filler door.
