FieldSmart Fiber Distribution Point (FDP) ® Splice Only Pedestal Installation Manual ______________________________________________________ Pedestal Access Metallic Emerson BD5 The interior of the pedestal can be accessed by loosening the security screw on the right hand side of the pedestal using a 7/16” thin wall socket or a telecommunications industry “can wrench”. Then, by supporting the top of the cover and pulling out and up on the handle, the outer cover of the pedestal can be removed to provide access to the interior. -

Note: If more than 6 trays are used, you will not be able to hinge the entire stack to access lower splices. Although the bracket will accomodate12 trays, Clearfield recommends only using 6 trays for 72 splices. FieldSmart Fiber Distribution Point (FDP) ® Splice Only Pedestal Installation Manual ______________________________________________________ Closing the Pedestal After work is completed in the pedestal, the black vinyl sheeting will need to be wrapped around the splice trays and secured into place using the slots and tabs that are precut into the vinyl. The cover is replaced by first hanging the top of the pedestal cover from the back panel, then swinging the cover closed and tightening the security screw. -
