LEDs. As part of the Optelian suite of products, the card mounts in any active shelf and can be configured and managed as a standalone device, or via the Optelian shelf or network management software. For managed operation (installed a shelf with a management card), use the Optelian shelf manager (OSM) or Optelian network manager (ONM) to configure, manage, monitor and troubleshoot the card.
LEDs P1 to P8 Applications The RGN-3GSF regenerator/transponder holds up to four pluggable SFP modules to support bandwidth provisioning, reach extension, and interface conversion applications. SFPs can be configured as separate regenerators - where each SFP functions as an independent 2-port signal regenerator - or paired as...
OMS-219 mounting shelves Note: To operate in this extended temperature range, the RGN-3GSF must be installed in the OMS-2190 shelf and must be populated with SFP modules that support this temperature range (see the Optelian Pluggable Modules Product Guide, 3019-4100).
Optical precautions Invisible laser radiation that may be hazardous to the eye is emitted from fiber optical cable, optical transceivers, and laser ports. To maximize safety when handling or operating Optelian equipment, follow the safety precautions described in this section.
RGN-3GSF Release 5.7 User Guide, 3005-9800 REV-11 Installing and removing the card and modules The RGN-3GSF is a single-width card that requires one shelf slot for installation. When the installation environment requires the card to operate within the normal temperature range (-5°C to 55°C [23°F to 131°F]), the card can be installed in any Optelian mounting platform.

WARNING: The card can be removed from a powered shelf with no impact on the other cards in the shelf; however, traffic on the RGN-3GSF card will be affected. Pull firmly on the latches and ensure they are in the open position.
The keypad and display combination allows you to view card and port status, and configure card and port settings. Note: Operating the RGN-3GSF in a shelf where a management card is installed is defined as operation in a managed system. When operating the RGN-3GSF in a managed system, the faceplate display can only be used to view configuration settings and alarm messages, and the card can only be configured using the ONM or OSM.
