GENERAL INFORMATION
The
Newcomb
Models SM-3I0
and
SM-3I0-4 tape
recorders are
mechanically
alike.
The
play-record
and
erase
heads and
the
amplifier are slightly different.
Any
sizereel from 3"
to
l0
l/2"with
either
the
small
center hole
or
the
largecenter
hole
may be used.
The
different
modes
of operation
are
controlled by
one
lever.
Power to the motor
is
automatically
turned
off
when
all of
the tape
is
wound
onto
the
take-up
reel.
The
tape
speeds
are 3
3/
4
and
?
I/2
ips.
These
recorders
contain the
power
supply
and
preamplifiers
only.
External amplifiers
and
speaker systems must
be connected
to the
output
jacks to play
back
a recording.
The power source
required for this unit
