FIllIng InSTrUcTIOn:

• Only refill your Optimus Burny in well
ventilated areas and in safe distance to any
open flame (8m / 25 feet).

• Turn lighter upside down so that filling
valve is facing upwards and butane
cartridge or gas canister is inverted above ES
the lighter.
• Press butane cartridge nozzle into filling
valve 2 - 4 times in short intervals of 3
seconds.
• Gas canisters according to EN417 can also
be used for refilling; an adapter is needed
for that (sold separately). Screw adapter
onto the valve of the canister and press
nozzle into filling valve 2 - 4 times in short
intervals of 3 seconds, both lighter and
canister facing upside down.
• Maximum filling level: approximately ¾ full
(fill level viewable through window on side
of Burny)
• Let fuel settle in lighter for about 3 minutes
before using the lighter.

• Ignite lighter away from face and clothing.
Extreme heat is present above the visible
flame.
• Push the ignition button slowly down.

• Use a small screwdriver to adjust the
flamesize at the bottom of the lighter. Turn
clockwise to decrease flamesize and

counterclockwise to increase flamesize.
• Release ignition button to turn off the
lighter and ensure that flame is out after DE
use.
• We recommend to use your lighter in

Minimum to Medium flamesize.
• If flame keeps on cutting out, reduce your
flamesize, shake the lighter and relight it.
• Your Optimus Burny is windproof, but not
stormproof.

• Do not ignite or use near an open flame,
heater or any combustible material.
• Take extra care when using Optimus Burny
to light a stove, as sudden ignition of gas
can cause a flare up.
• Take extra care when operating this lighter,
as the flame can be almost invisible in
daylight or in strong light.
• Always ensure the lighter has cooled off
after use before storing it.
• Keep in a dry place, out of direct sunlight.
