2. IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS Read and understand these instructions before use. Keep these instructions for future reference. Do not disassemble this product or attempt to repair it yourself. No user serviceable parts inside. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. This product should only be powered by 1 x AA size Alkaline battery. Under no circumstances should this product be powered from another power source. Insert the battery in accordance with the polarity symbol inside the battery compartment. Only use manufacturer approved AA size 1.5V battery as identified in this manual. Do not expose to direct sunlight. Do not submerge in water and do not use in damp or humid conditions. Do not expose to dripping or splashing water. As with any electronic equipment take care not to spill liquids into any part of the system. Liquids can cause a failure and/or a fire hazard. Do not drop or expose to high vibration or shock. Clean with a hard‐surface disinfectant wipe or a damp cloth and a non‐abrasive cleaning product. Polish with a dry duster. DO NOT use a wet cloth. Avoid using harsh, abrasive or corrosive cleaning agents or detergents (e.g. scouring powders, bleaches, polishes, etc.) when cleaning this product. At the end of its life this product should be disposed of and recycled in accordance with the environmental regulations. See the Regulatory Information in section 3 below. ...
3. REGULATORY INFORMATION This symbol on the product indicates it complies with all relevant EU Directives as required by law. This symbol on the product indicates it is classed as Electrical or Electronic Equipment and should not be disposed of with other commercial waste at the end of its working life. The Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive (2012/19/EU) has been put in place to recycle products using the best available recovery and recycling techniques to minimise impact on the environment, treat hazardous substances and avoid increasing landfill. For product disposal please contact your supplier and check the terms and conditions of the purchase contract and ensure this product is not mixed with other commercial waste for disposal. 7. MESSAGE DISPLAY The Pager will display the call type and the unit ID as a 6 character code (e.g. EME038) followed by a text message to identify the location. Icons along the bottom of the display show the Pager status. The first 3 characters (EME for Emergency) identify the alarm type, see below for other alarm types; CAR038 = Cardiac Call from unit ID 038 CAL038 = Call from unit ID 038 NUR038 = Nurse Present at unit ID 038 ASS038 = Assistance Call from unit ID 038 BED038 = Bed to be Cleaned at unit ID 038 CAN038 = Call Cancelled at unit ID 038 The call event will be displayed for 5 seconds, followed by the time & date for 20 seconds before returning to the blank ( Pager on) screen. 10. PAGER SETTINGS MENU Press any key to go to the STANDBY SCREEN. Use the or keys to select from the following options; Select SET ALERT to choose Tone, Vibrate, Tone & Vibrate or Silent Select TURN OFF to switch the Pager off Select DATE & TIME to set the correct time & date Press the READ key to confirm selection. Use the or keys to modify the options and press the READ key to enter The ESCAPE key takes you back to the STANDBY SCREEN without saving changes. 11. CHECKING THE PAGER SETTINGS Remove the battery from the Pager, press and hold the ESCAPE key and re‐insert the battery keeping it pressed until TEST is displayed on the screen, then release. Press the READ key to step through the factory settings; they should be as listed below; V7.1 (Software Version) SN: xxxxxxxx (Serial No.) LCD – all display pixels and icons should illuminate VIBRATOR – unit should vibrate LAMP – LCD backlight LED’s should illuminate BEEP – beeper should sound ID1: xxxxxxx, ID2: xxxxxxx, ID3: xxxxxxx, ID4: xxxxxxx, ID5: xxxxxxx, ID6: xxxxxxx (6 Site Specific ID’s) BAUD: 512 RF FREQ: 459.2750 The above will then repeat, press the ESCAPE key to exit. 12. ASTRA/MAXPAGE PAGER ID’s If J25 Pagers are being used with an Astra Transmitter then first 4 digits of each ID MUST be 0012; the remaining 3 digits can be any numbers. INDIVIDUAL/GROUP PAGER ID’s Each Pager can have an individual code so the user can be notified direct from a Maxpage Terminal plus group codes so they can be notified of alarm calls in their zone direct from the Nursecall system.
