b) For more specific action the unit may be placed on an acupoint as described in the
'Suggested Use' section of this guide. The unit needs only to be placed in the
point's general location to be effective.
Battery Charge Level
When the button is pressed to activate the device the battery level is automatically
indicated for a couple of seconds. Both the yellow battery light and a number of the
yellow indicator lights around the central light will show. The number of central yellow
lights indicates the battery charge level:
3 lights = fully charged
2 lights = good level of charge
1 light = medium level of charge
0 lights = low charge
Yellow battery light flashing = discharged
Once the battery level is displayed the program starts.
NOTE: If the battery is left in a discharged state then the unit goes into hibernation
mode does not run. When the button is pressed, depending on the battery level of
depletion, the battery light may flash a few times or no light at all may show and the
Painless program will not start running. It is necessary to recharge the unit to make it
active again.

Charging the Battery

The built in rechargeable battery is charged
by inserting a micro USB lead into the socket
in the side of the unit and connecting the
other end to a USB charger or USB port on a
computer. When charging, the yellow battery
light on the front panel is illuminated and
stays illuminated for as long as the charger is
attached.
To check the battery level during charging it is best to disconnect the charging lead, wait
a minute and then press the button on the front panel. A fully charged battery (3 yellow
lights) gives at least 10 hours of active program use. It is recommended to charge the
unit until it is fully charged.
The time required to charge the battery depends on how discharged it is. If the battery
level is at 1 yellow light then a full charge takes around 7 hours. If the battery is fully
discharged (flashing battery light) then a soak charge of 20 hours is recommended.
If the unit is going to remain unused for several months then we recommend fully
charging the unit and giving it a recharge every six months to preserve the battery. If the
battery is left fully discharged, it may start to deteriorate.
