Description:
The Pathfinder Remote is an ADS-B "In" receiver capable of receiving subscription free weather and traffic information from the
FAA. This data is simultaneously sent to both your EFIS via RS-232 and your tablet (iPad) via WiFi for display.
Installation:
Mechanical: Mount the Pathfinder on any convenient bulkhead using four 4-40 screws. The unit may be mounted in any
orientation.
The small rubber antenna is the Wifi antenna.
Electrical:
Antenna: The Pathfinder's antenna should be located at least 36" from your transponder antenna. Connect the BNC connector to
an external UAT antenna using RG-58 or RG-400 coax cable. We recommend the Delta Pop UAT antenna. You may also use a
standard transponder antenna.

Use 20 or 22 AWG wire for power connections (Pins 1, 2 and 3). Use 22 or 24 AWG shielded
cable for all data connections (Pins 4, 5 and 6).
1) Red – Avionics power 12-28 Volts via a 1 Amp fuse or CB.
2) Black – Aircraft ground.
3) Not Populated– Optional 5 Volts out to power an external "Puck " GPS. We recommend
the
GlobalSat 07-BR-355-S4 GPS Receiver
4) Not Populated – Optional GPS Transmit (TX). Connect to the external GPS Receive (RX)
connection if you are using a "Puck" style GPS.
5) Green – GPS Receive (RX). Connect only if you plan to use an iPad or Android with the
Pathfinder, other wise it can be left disconnected.
Connect to your GPS unit's Transmit (TX) connection. The Pathfinder will automatically
recognize NMEA GPS data at 4800, 9600 or 115,200* baud and Aviation GPS data at 9600
baud.
*115,200 baud requires firmware version 51 or greater
6) Yellow – ADSB data out (TX). Connect to an EFIS serial port and configure the EFIS at 115.2K baud. AFS 4500 and 3000s
series owners use 57.6K baud (Special firmware required please contact factory prior to ordering)
If using a puck GPS or to fabricate your own harness, the connector uses Molex pins part number:
Mouser, Digikey and others.
Operation:
1.
On your iPad choose the wireless network, "Pathfinder_R". A checkmark will appear next to the network name once
your iPad is connected to the Pathfinder wireless network.
2.
Open WingX (or other application) and confirm the connection by viewing the status bar along the bottom of the screen.
