    2.When the BrailleSense Polaris MINI is shipped, the battery may be packaged separate from the unit to avoid damage. When you use the BrailleSense Polaris MINI for the first time, you may need to open the package, remove the battery, and insert it into the battery slot at the underside of the unit.

If the remaining battery charge drops to five percent, and the unit is not connected to the AC adapter, the BrailleSense Polaris MINI goes in to Sleep mode one minute after the announcement of the battery’s status.     Place the Polaris MINI on a desk or table top with the Braille display nearest you. 1.2.1 The Top Panel On the top face of the BrailleSense Polaris MINI is located a 9 key Perkins-style keyboard, consisting of Braille dots 1:6, "SPACE", "BACKSPACE", and "ENTER".

    "Global Options". (See chapter 3.) 1.2.2 The Right Panel Toward the front of the right panel of the BrailleSense Polaris MINI is the USB C port. This port can be used for transferring data, charging the unit, and connecting to a computer as a USB Braille display.

    The data in the RAM area disappears if your battery depletes, and the AC adapter is not connected. The RAM data also disappears when BrailleSense Polaris MINI reboots for any reason. This means, if you have an open document which you have not saved, the unsaved data disappears.

Other Polaris MINI system messages are displayed and spoken, and automatically disappear when any key is pressed, or after a set number of seconds. The "Program" menu is the main menu of the Polaris MINI. You can access all of the programming, option settings, utilities, and help from this menu, as well as the Play Store and installed Android apps.

Set whether status messages are shown in Braille while in Sleep Mode. 3.11 Android Backup & Reset The “Android Backup & Reset” option opens the Restore and Reset options found in the Android System Settings in a more convenient location. Here, you can set options for backing up and restoring information related to your Android applications and accounts, and you can factory reset your device.

    4. File Manager 4.1 Overview The functionality and structure of the "File Manager" on the Polaris MINI are similar to "Windows Explorer" on a PC. To run the "File Manager", press F from the "Program" menu or press "Enter" when your cursor is placed on "File Manager".

    Use Space-1" and Space-4" to navigate among the available menus. To open a menu, press "Enter". Again, use "Space-1" or "Space-4" to navigate among the items in a menu, and press "Enter" to execute a menu item. The File Manager also contains dialogs.     3. Select all "Enter-a": This selects all the files and folders in the current list. You can toggle selection and de-selection of items by pressing "Space". When the "Select All" command is executed, the Polaris MINI says the number of selected files, and * appears in front of the selected files on the Braille display.

    To exit the current folder, use the "Backspace" key. You are returned to the previous level in the folder structure. 4.2.2 Ejecting USB Drives and SD Cards The Android operating system requires that drives are ejected properly before removing them. If not done, re-inserting them in to the Polaris MINI or connecting to other mobile devices or computers may result in all files appearing as though they have no data, or have a size of 0 bytes.
