PS-14

POWER SUPPLY

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

INTRODUCTION and KEY FEATURES
The PS-14 is a power supply that serves as a spare part for the AC-
215; it replaces the existing power supply and provides power to
the AC-215 board, readers, and electric locks, as well as battery
charging for power backup.
The PS-14 does not require programming. It comes with a battery
charger (up to 7Ah), Tamper Output, and two separated power
supplies.
The PS-14 power supply converts a 16VAC input from the voltage
transformer to a 12 VDC power limited output (see specification)
with an integrated battery charger.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
The power supply should be installed in accordance with article
760 of the National Electrical Code NFPA 70, as well as applicable
Local Codes.
Note: Circuit breaker must be close to the power supply and must be
accessible.
1.
Mount the Power Supply.
2.
Connect AC power (16VAC) to the PS-14 power supply
input. The power supply output rated 12VDC and a
maximum of 0.5A.
3.
Connect the grounding to the ground terminal.
Make sure to secure the screw tightly.
4.
Connect the ACU power input to the power terminal
marked [12VDC (+) and 0.5A (-)].
5.
Backup battery is optional. When battery is not used, loss of
AC results in the loss of output voltage. When using a
backup battery, it must be a UL certified "lead acid" or "gel"
type. Connect the battery terminal to power terminal
marked [VBAT(+) and 12VDC (-)].
(Battery leads are included.)
WIRING
Use 18 AWG or larger for all power connections.
Ensure that the power-limited circuit is wired separately from the
non-power limited wiring (16 VAC, Battery).
MAINTENANCE
For proper operation, the unit should be tested at least once a
year as described below:
Output voltage test:
Check DC output for proper voltage level under normal load
conditions.
Battery test:
Check specified voltage, at both battery terminal and board
terminals marked [VBAT(+) (-)] under normal load conditions,
verify that the battery is fully charged, and ensure that there is no
break in the battery connection wires.
Note: Maximum charging current under discharge is 1.2A.
Note: Battery life expectancy is five years .However, it is recommended to
change batteries after four years, or before, if required.
Dispose of used batteries according to manufacturer's instructions.
