This model YF-20 Sound Level Meter is suited to checking noise levels in almost
any environment including factories, offices and homes.
The meter is designed to provide the preferred "A" weighted response.

Battery Installation
1. The meter requires one 9 volt battery (Type 216, 006P 622 or similar).
2. Slide the battery cover down from the rear of the meter.
3. Connect the battery to the matching snap connector and fit the battery to the
battery compartment so that the bottom of the battery is below the "CAL ADJ
" marking and the battery wires are concealed behind the battery.
4. Replace the battery compartment cover.
Battery Test
1. Rotate the control knob to the "BATT" position.
2. If the meter needle is within the range of the blue 'B.OK' scale then the battery is
usable.
*Note: Do not leave the control knob in the " BATT" position as this could quickly
flatten the battery.
Calibration Check
1. An internal reference signal is available for checking the meter's operation.
2. Rotate the control knob to the "CAL" position.
3. The meter needle should indicate 70Db, any other reading may indicate that the
meter has been damaged.
4. Though not normally necessary, the reading can be re-calibrated by adjusting the
"CAL ADJ" control located.
5. In the battery compartment, using a non-conductive screwdriver.
*Note: Before attempting re-calibration, ensure that the battery is in good condition.
Proper calibration requires suitable test equipment.

To measure the noise from a particular object, hold the meter a known distance from the object and point it towards the noise source.
