coins flow through to the change box. But dollar bills work.

The coin mechanism of the Futura 3589 must be loaded with a minimum of one roll each of nickels, dimes, and quarters for proper operation. If the coin tubes are empty or not sufficiently filled, coins will not flow through to the change box, preventing the machine from giving change. Dollar bills, however, are accepted and processed separately by the bill validator, which does not rely on the coin tubes for operation.
