1. Forward Thank you for purchasing Tokyo Hy-Power model HC-1500AT, automatic antenna tuner. HC-1500AT is a compact HF/50MHz band high power auto antenna tuner with a maximum power handling capability of 1.5kW. The tuner fully intergrates with Tokyo Hy-Power Linear amps such as HL-1.5KFX, HL-2.5KFX, HL-2500FX etc.

HC-1500AT 4-1. Equipment Needed for an Operation A. DC Power Supply DC12V (11 – 14V), 2A (negative ground) B. Coax Cable RG8U or higher grade is recommended. RG8X and similar small diameter coax is not recommended. C. Transceiver HF/50MHz radio that delivers at least 50W of output power, that drivers the tuner directly when tuning.

HC-1500AT 7-2. Setting and Cooling Fan Air Flow Air flow Direction This tuner is cooled with a forced air cooling fan. Never block the vent hole of the rear panel. Allow two inches rear clearance. Chassis bottom must be above and free from desk by rubber feet height.

HC-1500AT 9. Function Menu List CAUTION: Never transmit while setting the following functions. To make a band change, antenna port selection, interface setting etc. you can set the parameters by pressing READY WARNING (1) FUNC button, (2) rotating the SELECT dial, and pressing (3) ENTRY button.

HC-1500AT 10. Flow of Tuning Sequence Auto tuning is completed after completing the following four steps of the tuning operation. These steps are common for all the operating modes. Linear Presetting When band (or freq.) is changed, variable capacitors will shift to best pre-set positions.

For YAESU x-ceiver and using a THP HL-2500, HL-2.5KFX, or HL-1,5KFX amplifier, it is recommended to connect the x-ceiver and linear with a YAESU band cable. Also connect the cable between the amplifier and HC-1500AT using the Tokyo Hy-Power tuner interface cable. Connection...

Useful Function Re-tuning READY WARNING While transmitting, or tuner is in operation, you can decrease the increased reflected HF AUTOMATIC ANTENNA TUNER HC-1500AT power by pressing ENTRY button. SELECT POWER FUNCTION ENTRY Note When tuning in frequency counter mode, re- tuning may take slightly longer time.
HC-1500AT 13. About Memory Programmed data parameters are stored in the non-volatile IC memory. With the stored data, capacitors (C1 and C2) are preset accordingly, next time the tuner is operated. Operating Status Memory (RESUME Memory) Memory and Status is stored when the tuner powered is off, and recalled again when power is turned back on.

HC-1500AT 14. Warning and Protection Warning Sign This tuner can tune to relatively high SWR antenna successfully. In such a case, reduction of running power is recommended to approx. 500W, due to the excessive current applied to the internal components.

X-CEIVER T/ROUT LINEAR IN PTT(SEND /RECEIVE switch) from the x- ceiver is, via HC-1500AT, connected to SEND(PTT, or STBY) terminal of linear amp. When the tuner is tuning, or in an error, this contact is made open, and linear becomes stand-by state (or barefoot).

HC-1500AT 16-2. Explanation of Connectors CONT Explanation Circuitry CONT is for Tokyo Hy-Power’s tuner connection interface. EVENT pin handles an inquiry signal. When EVENT is LOW, frequency information is returned at FREQ pin. EVENT Frequency information is a rectangular waveform of one thousandth of actual +5VOUT frequency.

HC-1500AT 18-1 Maintenance / All Reset FACTORY RESET All tuning data are stored in the IC memory. However, for some reason, there is a chance that data became corrupted. In such a case, memory can be re-written to default condition at time of factory shipment.
HC-1500AT 18-2. Fuse Replacement Fuse for DC power line is mounted on printed circuit board PCSE 1903. It is a 2A, LM-20 by DAITO, yellow mini-fuse. CAUTION! Be sure to turn Power off, before checking inside of chassis. Turn off the power, and remove the bottom plate from the chassis.
