MIXING THE OIL AND FUEL HOW TO MIX FUEL WARNING Petrol is flammable. Avoid smoking or bringing any flame or sparks near fuel. Make sure to stop the engine and allow it cool before refilling the unit. Select outdoor bare ground for filling with fuel and move at least 3 m (10 ft) away from the fuel filling point before starting the engine.
Page 22
2. Move at least 10 feet (3 metres) away from the fuel filling point before starting the engine. 3. Stop the engine before refilling the unit with fuel. At that time, be sure to sufficiently agitate the mixed fuel in the container. WWW.SGS-ENGINEERING.COM PAGE 22 CALL FOR ASSISTANCE: 01332 576 850...

FILLING WITH OIL AND FUEL FOR YOUR ENGINE LIFE, AVOID: 1. FUEL WITH NO OIL (RAW PETROL) – It will cause severe damage to the internal engine parts very quickly. 2. ‘GASOHOL’ – It can cause deterioration of rubber and/orplas- tic parts and disruption of engine lubrication.
Page 24
Press the priming bulb 5 to 8 times. This will help the strimmer start with less pulls of the starter cord. If you can’t see fuel enter- ing the priming bulb please contact SGS. Move the strimmers switch to the On (I) position.
Page 25
SET THE CHOKE For a cold engine, move the choke to the “Start” posi- tion (closed). Squeeze the throttle lever once. When re-starting the strimmer (warm engine) you can move the choke straight into the “Run” position (open). PAGE 25...
Page 26
Now, pull the pull start hard several times until the engine fires and starts. Pull the rope up as vertically as you can. Don’t let the rope drag on the casing of the strimmer. WWW.SGS-ENGINEERING.COM PAGE 26 CALL FOR ASSISTANCE: 01332 576 850...
Page 27
OPEN THE CHOKE Once the machine is running, move the choke to the “Run” position (open)/ Squeeze the throttle to rev the strimmer and then let your machine idle for a 30- 40 seconds. Your strimmer should now be ready to use. PAGE 27...

OPERATION ADJUSTING THE LINE LENGTH Your brush cutters are equipped with a semi-auto type nylon line head, that allows the operator to advance the line without stopping the engine. When the line becomes short, lightly tap the head on the ground while running the engine at full throttle.
Page 36
If you find any damage to the blade, discard it and replace with a new one. By using the shoulder strap, hang the unit on your right side. Adjust the strap length so that the cutting head is parallel to the ground. WWW.SGS-ENGINEERING.COM PAGE 36 CALL FOR ASSISTANCE: 01332 576 850...

OPERATION PERIODICAL BOLT ATTACHER SAFETY CHECK 1. Check the bolt every so often that fastens the blade and be sure the bolt has no fault, and no abrasion. 2. Be sure that the blade and the holder have been fastened secureley and that the blade turns smoothly without abnormal noise.
Page 38
The operator can lose con- trol of the unit and the blade can cause serious personal injury to the operator or any person nearby if the blade con- tacts any part of the body. WWW.SGS-ENGINEERING.COM PAGE 38 CALL FOR ASSISTANCE: 01332 576 850...
Page 39
OPERATION 2. How you can reduce the chance of blade thrust: a. Recognize that blade thrust can happen. By understanding and knowing about bounce, you can help eliminate the ele- ment of surprise. b. Cut fibrous weeds and grass only. Do not let the blade contact materials it cannot cut such as hard, woody vines and bushes or rocks, fences, metal, etc.
Page 40
Never forget to place the protective cover over the blades. When transporting the unit over long distances, detach the blade and fasten the unit by ropes. WWW.SGS-ENGINEERING.COM PAGE 40 CALL FOR ASSISTANCE: 01332 576 850...

OPERATION WORKING WITH THE POLE PRUNER CHECKING OIL SUPPLY After starting the engine, run the chain at medium speed and see if chain oil has scattered off, as shown in the figure. 1) Chain oil NOTE The oil reservoir has a capacity sufficient to provide about 40 minutes of cutting time (when set to deliver the minimum flow rate, or about as long as you’ll get from a tank of fuel).
Page 44
1. Stop the engine and make sure the stop switch is in the OFF position. 2. Place the unit on its side with the oil reservoir up. (1) Oil tank (2) Chain cover WWW.SGS-ENGINEERING.COM PAGE 44 CALL FOR ASSISTANCE: 01332 576 850...

OPERATION WARNING The oil flow adjusting screw must be pressed in slightly in order to turn. Failure to do so could damage the pump and screw. 3. With a screwdriver, push in the oil flow rate adjusting screw and turn in the desired direction (there are three incremental settings): (a) Clockwise-decrease lubrication (b) Counter clockwise-increase lubrication...
