This configuration
screen displays the
default settings for
the DWL-G650+
To comm unicate on the network all devices must have the
same settings for the following properties:
SSID - (Service Set Identifier) is a name that identifies a wireless network. Access
Points and wireless clients attempting to connect to a spec ific WLAN (Wireless Local
Area Net work) must use the same SSID. The default sett ing is default.
Wireless Mode - Click on the pull-down menu; select from the following options:
Infrastructure - connec ting the WLAN using an Access Point . (The default
setting.)
Ad-Hoc – wireless mode used when c onnecting direct ly to a computer equipped
with a wireless adapter in a peer-to-peer environment.
Channe l – The default channel setting is channel 6. However, the DWL-G650+ will
automatic ally select the c hannel to match t he channel setting for the select ed Access
Point. In Ad Hoc mode, t he channel must be manually set to the same channel for
each wireless adapter.
TX Rate - Select the transmission rate on the network. Auto is t he default sett ing.
TX rates are automatically determined by the DWL-G650+ depending on the distance
from the ac cess point.
Pream ble - Auto is the default setting. The Preamble defines the length of the CRC
block (Cyclic Redundancy Check is a common technique for detecting data
transmis sion errors) for communication between the Acces s Point and the wireless
Network adapters. Note: High network traff ic areas should use the shorter preamble
type.
Power Mode – Selec t from three modes:
Continuous Access Mode-this default setting consumes the most power
Maximum Power Save-this sett ing consumes the least power
Power S ave- this set ting consumes a moderate amount of power
If any c hanges are made to the configuration of the wireless adapter, click Apply
to save the changes.
