1173 PREAMPLIFIER/COMPRESSOR Overview and Features Thank you for purchasing the UK Sound 1173. We at UK Sound have worked hard to design a product that will support you in creating amazing music. The 1173 is has an all-discrete and Class A signal path with transformer balanced input and output.
Step 1: Set 1173 to “Default” A good starting point for the 1173 is what we will all “Default”. The first step is to set the unit to these settings, even before plugging it in to power. For some of these controls we will refer to their setting as if it were a clock, this is a common way to define positions of rotary controls.

Choose the desired input (DI, Line, Mic) • Connect the output of the 1173 to the line level input of your audio interface, mixer, or recorder. • Play an instrument or sing into the microphone and increase the Gain control (by turning clockwise) until the desired level is shown on the meters in your recording software, mixer, or recorder.

With the Preamp Out control at “0” or higher, you will have a cleaner output. Distorted: Turning the Preamp Output control down and the Gain control up will create distortion.
