  • Page 9: Plan Ahead

Plan Ahead It is very important that this manual be read entirely before installing the MotionCam. A full grasp of all steps to be completed before starting makes installation easy and limits potential problems. Please pay particular attention to the section on "Site Evaluation." A complete site evaluation determines proper placement of the camera and will prevent the need to have to re-mount the camera and re-route cables.
  • Page 10 (Please see Troubleshooting, Maintenance, and Precautions in this document) While installation of the MotionCam is not particularly difficult, it does usually require installation near the rooftop, which presents some amount of risk. • Installation must conform to national, state, and local building code requirements with the most stringent guidelines being adhered to.

It is best to work with a team of at least two people, as cable will have to be handled from both the inside and the outside of the building. Keep in mind that the standard MotionCam package contains 200 feet of cable. This cable must reach from the server computer to the camera.
  • Page 22 Installation Manual Routing the Cable (Continued) MotionCam cables are not UV rated. Therefore, they must be routed in conduit when running outdoors to protect the cables. The MotionCam cables should be run inside as much as possible. Outdoor cable runs must be covered by conduit. Cable can be run in ceiling spaces.
