STORING YOUR ENGINE
Storage Preparation
Proper storage preparation keeps your engine trouble-free and clean. The following steps will assist in keeping rust and corrosion from
impairing your engine's function and appearance, and will make the engine easier to start when using again.
Cleaning
If the engine has been running, allow it to cool for at least half an hour before cleaning. Clean all exterior surfaces and apply a light film
of spray penetrating lubricant.
• Do not allow water to enter into the exhaust ports or into the heat shield openings (intake port). Water that passes through these
areas can cause damage to the engine. Use a rag to wipe down heat shield if cleaning is required.
• Water contacting a hot engine can cause damage. If the engine has been running, allow it to cool for at least half an hour before cleaning.
• It's best to use compressed air to clean debris from engine.
FUEL HANDLING
Short Term Non-use (up to 30 days)
1. Add fuel stabilizer, following the manufacturer's instructions.
2. Turn the red fuel knob to the ON position after adding fuel stabilizer.
3. Start the engine.
4. Run the engine outdoors for 5 minute to be sure that treated gasoline has circulated through the carburetor.
5. Stop the engine.
Long Term (more than 30 days)
1. Drain all fuel or run the engine until it stops due to lack of fuel.
2. Add 4-6oz of an ethanol free fuel.
3. Start the engine and run until it stops from lack of fuel.
4. Drain remaining fuel from the carburetor bowl.
