  • Page 2 A warm welcome to ThePaw     We’ve strived to make this set-up as  quick and easy as possible.    And, as a result, you’ll find that  we’ve already carried out some of  the steps described in this user  manual.    For example, we have set up your time-zone, personalised  ThePaw to you and have made some of the page 11 changes  to preserve battery life.    Please take a few minutes to read this manual and remember,  we’re always on hand to help at www.HugMy.pet/contact-us     NOTE:  Please take a moment now to note down your Device ID from the back of ThePaw and write it below. This will serve  as a backup if you ever lose your pet, without the app installed on your phone.      Device ID: _______________________________        HugMy.pet ThePaw   ...

  • Page 4 Open the app (or tracking website) and enter your unique 10 digit tracking number which you’ll locate on the tag on the rear of ThePaw device. The initial password is always set to: 123456 Then press Log in. We strongly recommend updating your password by clicking Settings / Change password.
  • Page 5 First time test of ThePaw    Please don’t skip this page. It’s really important to follow these steps to establish a first‐time location.    The first time you connect ThePaw, you may be surprised to discover that it tells you it’s several miles away – even  though you’re stood right next to it! So here are the exact steps to follow for smooth testing and future operation.  1. Ensure you’ve completed ‘Getting started in four easy steps’ from page 3 of the user manual. This means  that your Paw will be 100% charged, with the App downloaded and initial settings checked and complete.    2. Disconnect ThePaw from charging and turn it off by clicking the button on the front 3 times in quick  succession. Click…click…click.  Assuming ThePaw was on, after 3 seconds ThePaw will flash both the red  and blue lights back at you very quickly three times – flash…flash…flash. ThePaw is now turned off.    3. Now take ThePaw outside. Ensure that you are standing in clear line of the sky (i.e. not surrounded by  nearby tall buildings, tall trees, etc., just for this first test).    4. Next, turn ThePaw back on by holding down the button on the front for up to 7 seconds or until all 4 lights  turn on in bright white. ThePaw is now switched on.    Soon after ThePaw is on, both the Blue and Red lights will begin to flash in unison. Read ‘What do the  various indicator lights mean?’ on Page 7 of the user manual, but essentially the Blue light indicates whether  satellites are in view, whilst the Red light shows whether a mobile signal has been acquired.   A one second flash of either light means searching (blue satellite or red mobile).    A very quick flash (literally the blink of an eye speed) of either light means either the satellite (blue)  or mobile (red) has been reached.    6. Now leave ThePaw outside for 15 minutes and return indoors with your mobile phone. On the first occasion  that you use ThePaw, it may take up to 15 minutes to properly locate its location on the earth’s surface.  Once this has happened, it gets the idea and will quickly acquire its location in the future, so this is a one‐ time setup.    After 15 minutes (it may happen quicker), open the Tracking App, login to your Paw Device ID and click on  Real‐time tracking (top left on main app screen). You will now see the location of ThePaw. ...

  • Page 12 Finally, unless you’re using it to show off ThePaw to your pals, or you have actually lost your pet, don’t keep the App or website open unnecessarily. When you do, it will have a tendency to ‘ping’ ThePaw periodically, meaning the ThePaw will need to use up some energy to respond.

  • Page 16 Note that the position report for your pet may initially jump around as an exact satellite fix is made. The precise amount of time will depend on the ‘sleep’ mode that ThePaw was previously in, as well as the line of site from the satellites to your pet. This can take a few minutes to become entirely correct.
