Maintaining and servicing your locomotive

Replacing your locomotive's lamps

T
he headlamps are secured in the number board/headlight lens inside the cab. To replace a
lamp, remove the four chassis screws from the underside of the frame (see Figure 2 on page 6)
and gently lift off the cab. Locate the expired lamp and gently pull it out of the socket. Replace it
with Lionel part no. 600-8352-311. To reassemble, reverse the procedure.

Replacing your locomotive's traction tires

S
ome of your locomotive's drive wheels are equipped with rubber traction tires to increase
the tractive effort of your locomotive, allowing it to pull more cars. During the course of
normal operations, the traction tires may become worn out.
Replacement traction tires are included with your locomotive. Follow these steps to
replace a worn traction tire.
• Slide the old traction tire off the wheel and remove from under the truck frame.
• Position the replacement tire on the wheel and work it into place to be sure it is fully
seated in the wheel groove.
Extra traction tires (Part number 640-8153-177) are available through Lionel Customer
Service or your Authorized Lionel Service Center.
