    2 GENERAL INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS 2.1 The law demands that all gas appliances are installed and serviced by a qualified installer in accordance with the current GAS SAFETY (INSTALLATION AND USE) REGULATIONS OR RULES IN FORCE. The installation must comply with these installation instructions and all relevant parts of Local and National Building Regulations issued by the Department of the Environment and Local and National Building Standards (Scotland Consolidation) Regulations issued by the Scottish...
  • Page 4 2.5 The Fireplace 1) The recess into which the 22" HOT BOX is to be fitted should conform to the dimensions shown in Fig.1 and must be constructed of non-combustible materials. If a chairbrick is already in position, this must be removed and the recess cleared to permit the provision of a debris-collection space (minimum depth of 50mm) behind the appliance.

    2.7 Care should be taken to ensure soft furnishings or decorations, such as wallpaper, are not too near the appliance, as they may become discoloured or scorched. 3) INSTALLING THE APPLIANCE 3.1. Check that the fire opening, flue and chimney comply with the relevant Building Regulations for England and Scotland.
  • Page 6 3.5 Isolate the gas supply by turning off at the meter. Fit a suitable means of isolation to the gas supply to the fire. 3.6 Establish the route the gas supply will take. NB only rigid or semi-rigid pipe is acceptable.

    5.4 Keep the main burner control knob depressed for approx., 10 seconds then gently release it ensuring the pilot flame stays alight. 5.5 If the pilot flame extinguishes, repeat the process, depressing the control knob for a slightly longer period. 5.6 In the event of ignition failure the following method of lighting should be used: Press in and turn the main burner control anti-clockwise until the indicator is opposite PILOT/ IGN.

    8.4 After 5 minutes, light a smoke match and position it approximately 100mm down from the top of the fire opening and 30mm into the fire opening from the front edge (see Fig 12). Run the match across the full width of the fire opening. All smoke should be drawn into the flue.

    SERVICING THE BURNER 11.1 TO REMOVE THE BURNER ASSEMBLY FROM THE CASING, Disconnect the gas supply at the inlet elbow. 11.2 Unscrew the retaining screw:- a) Located centrally at the bottom of the control panel. b) The burner tray can now be removed together with the ceramic backboard. 11.3 Check the two burner slots for any debris.
