To set a new password for the First Alert 2087F without the original password, you must use the Emergency Override Key. Follow these steps:
1. Remove the gray lock cover below the combination dial using a fingernail or flathead screwdriver. 2. Insert the Emergency Override Key into the key lock. 3. Turn the key clockwise to open the safe. 4. Open the safe door and press the small reset button located on the inside top edge of the door. 5. When red and green lights flash, enter your new 3- to 8-digit passcode followed by the # key. 6. Immediately reenter the same passcode followed by the # key. 7. A solid green light for 5 seconds confirms the new code is set and the factory code is deactivated. 8. Remove the key, close the safe, and replace the gray lock cover.
