    LIMITED WARRANTY ID TECH warrants to the original purchaser for a period of 12 months from the date of invoice that this product is in good working order and free from defects in material and workmanship under normal use and service. ID TECH’s obligation under this warranty is limited to, at its option, replacing, repairing, or giving credit for any product which has, within the warranty period, been returned to the factory of origin, transportation charges and insurance prepaid, and which is, after examination, disclosed to ID TECH’s satisfaction to be thus defective.
  • Page 4 Introduction SmartPIN K100 is a Personal Identification Number (PIN) PIN Entry Device (PED) designed mainly for kiosk applications. The PIN Pad is typically used in POS applications where PIN numbers are used for financial transaction authorization. The entered PIN is encrypted for secure transmission to a POS terminal or similar equipment.
  • Page 5 Installation RS232 Interface Connect the DB9 connector into the Host equipment’s serial port. An A/C power adaptor is required to supply power to the RS232 interface device. To apply power to the unit, first connect the output connector of the power adaptor into the housing of the DE9 (RS232) connector, notice that the end that has the power jack should be connected to the host.
  • Page 6 Operational States There are three Operational States: Idle, PIN Entry, and Transaction. o The SmartPIN K100 rests in an Idle State when it’s not in use. In this state, the PIN Pad is ready to receive commands from the host.
  • Page 7 PIN entry process is aborted. The SmartPIN K100 has a fixed limit to the number of PIN digits that can be entered. When more than the limit of PIN digits is pressed or a function key is pressed during the PIN entry state, three audio beeps are sounded to signal the input error.
  • Page 8 Maintenance There are no user serviceable components in the SmartPIN K100. Maintenance is limited to periodic cleaning of the unit to remove oils and dirt. To clean the unit, use a soft cloth moistened with warm water and a small amount of mild detergent.
