Set Up Your Phone You must first install and charge the battery to begin setting up your phone. 1. Install the battery. Insert a coin or other flat object into the slot at the bottom of the battery compartment cover and lift the cover up gently. Insert the battery, contacts end first, and gently press the battery into place. Replace the battery compartment cover, making sure all the tabs are secure and there are no gaps around the cover. Note: W hen you insert the battery, your phone may power on automatically. 2. Charge your battery. Plug the USB connector into the charger/accessory jack on the lower left side of your phone. Plug the AC adapter into an electrical outlet. Note: Your phone’s battery should have enough charge for the phone to turn on and find a signal, set up voicemail, and make a call. You should fully charge the battery as soon as possible. 3. Press and hold the Power Button to turn the phone on. Set Up Voicemail You should set up your Voicemail and personal greeting as soon as your phone is activated. Always use a password to protect against unauthorized access. You can get up to three pieces of information per call, and the operator can automatically connect your call at no additional charge. Key Functions Power Button lets you turn the phone on or off or turn the screen on or off, restart the phone, or switch your phone to silent mode, vibration mode, or airplane mode. Earpiece lets you hear the caller and automated prompts. Volume Buttons allow you to adjust the ringer or media volume or adjust the voice volume during a call. Camera Button lets you activate the camera and take pictures or videos. Touchscreen lets you view and control all the features of your phone. Front Camera Lens and Back Camera Lens let you take pictures and videos. 3.5 mm Headset Jack allows you to plug in either a stereo headset or an optional headset for convenient, hands-free conversations. CAUTION! Inserting an accessory into the incorrect jack may damage the phone. Flash helps illuminate subjects in low-light environments when the camera is focusing and capturing a photo or video. Speaker lets you hear the different ringers and sounds. The speaker also lets you hear the caller’s voice in speakerphone mode. Turn the Screen Off When Not in Use To quickly turn the screen off, press the Power Button. Pressing the Power Button again or receiving an incoming call will turn on your phone screen and show the lock screen or incoming call screen. To save battery power, the phone automatically turns off the screen after a certain period of time when you leave it idle. You will still be able to receive messages and calls while the phone’s screen is off. Note: For information on how to adjust the time before the screen turns off, see “Sleep” in Display Settings. Turn the Screen On and Unlock It 1. To turn the screen on, press the Power Button. 2. Long press screen to unlock the screen. Tips for using Swype Text Input: To enter double letters, scribble slightly or make a loop on the letter. For example, to get the "ll" in "hello", scribble (or make a loop) on the "l" key. Lift your finger at the end of the word. A space is added automatically when you “Swype” the next word. Tips for Editing Text Your phone gives you many options to make entering text easier, including copying, cutting, and pasting text, using voice-to-text input, customizing the user dictionary, using predictive text, and more. To move the insertion point, touch where you want to type. The cursor blinks in the new position, and a tab appears below it. Then drag the tab to move the cursor. To select text when editing, touch and hold or double-tap the text, so that the text selection tabs appear. Then drag the tabs to change the text in between. Phone Calls With Boost Mobile wireless service and your phone’s calling features, you can enjoy clear phone calls across the country. Make Phone Calls There are several convenient ways to place calls from your phone. Call Using the Phone Dialer The most “traditional” way to place a call is by using the phone’s dialer screen. 1. Touch > > to open the dialpad. 2. Touch the number keys on the dialpad to enter the phone number. Touch to delete wrong digits. As you enter digits, Smart Dial searches for contacts that match. Enhanced 9-1-1 (E 9-1-1) Information This phone features an embedded Global Positioning System (GPS) chip necessary for utilizing E 9-1-1 emergency location services where available. When you place an emergency 9-1-1 call, the GPS feature of your phone seeks information to calculate your approximate location. Depending on several variables, including availability and access to satellite signals, it may take up to 30 seconds or more to determine and report your approximate location. Important: Always report your location to the 9-1-1 operator when placing an emergency call. Some designated emergency call takers, known as Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs), may not be equipped to receive GPS location information from your phone. Receive Phone Calls The following information lets you know how to answer incoming calls, mute the ringer on incoming calls, reject incoming calls, and more. When you receive a phone call from a contact, the Incoming call screen appears and displays the caller ID icon, name, and phone number of the calling party. When you receive a phone call from someone who is not stored in Contacts, only the default caller ID icon and phone number appear on the Incoming call screen. Note: If your phone is turned off, all calls automatically go to voicemail. Answer an Incoming Call Slide down to answer the call. Reject an Incoming Call Slide up to reject the call.
