Pull down locking tab located at the bottom of the battery compartment, and lift the door up to remove the battery cover. 2. Insert 4 ‘AA’ size batteries or rechargeable batteries (charge up separately).

8:27 PM Page 15 Push to talk Compass Button Your HUM1200 radio features an 8-point digital compass. To Calibrate the Compass: 1. Press and hold the COMPASS Button for 2 seconds. The compass icon “CALlbr” will appear in the display.
2. To exit Compass Mode and return to Standby Mode, press and release the Compass button. Menu Button This button is used to select various feature settings in your HUM1200 radio. Menu Button Note: After the Menu button has been pressed, the Up ( ) or Down ( ) button must be pressed within 15 seconds, otherwise the unit will revert back to Normal mode.
Your HUM1200 radio is equipped with 22 main channels. Channels 1-7 are on GMRS/FRS frequencies, 8-14 are on FRS frequencies and 15-22 are on GMRS frequencies. Note: Your HUM1200 radio can be used with any other FRS and GMRS Radio. To select the channel: Press the Up ( ) or Down ( ) button to select the desired channel.

8:27 PM Page 19 Power Hi/Low Your HUM1200 Radio permits selection of the transmitting power on High (3W) or Low (0.5W). 1. Press the Menu button twice and the Power ( Po) icon and level will appear on the LCD screen. Using low power, the unit will have a lower transmit range but battery life will be increased.
HUM1200 2/11/04 8:27 PM Page 20 Weather Band Operation This feature provides access to 10 weather channels (10 NOAA chan- nels). To select a weather channel, the unit must be in the weather chan- nel mode. Press the Menu button until icon (WX ) is flashing to enter the selection mode.

HUM1200 2/11/04 8:27 PM Page 24 Dual Watch Mode This feature allows you to monitor two channels at the same time. While in dual watch mode, the unit will continuously monitor both the primary and secondary channels. When an active signal is found, the conversa- tion will be heard.
HUM1200 2/11/04 8:27 PM Page 25 Main Channel Scan This feature allows you to monitor all channels automatically for valid signals. While scanning, you can transmit and receive. When a signal is received, scan will be interrupted and you will hear conversation. When conversation ends, scan will be resumed automatically in 5 seconds.

The Key Lock function will temporarily disable the Channel Up/Down, CALL, COMPASS, and MENU button. Key Lock To activate Key Lock: 1. Press and hold the MENU button for 2 seconds.
