Media Block

The SMS Media Block is the combined Media Block unit
and any attached storage (RAID) devices. This is generally
referred to as the Media Block. Each Show Playlist is an
assemblage, in presentation sequence, of one or more
Composition Playlist which must be present in the Media
Block/Storage.
The Media Block is the point where playout of the CPL is
managed, the CPL associated files are stored, when
necessary the files are decrypted and, the Content
Elements are decoded and sent to the Projector. Through
the use of "Keys" contained in the Key Delivery Message
(KDM), the Media Block decrypts CPLs as necessary for
presentation as part of a Show Playlist (SPL).

Information
Restart Media Block
The Media Block is the central storage unit for all digital
components that make up the screen presentation.
• RESTART
To restart the Media Block, tap Menu and then tap
Media Block. The MEDIA BLOCK CONTROL pane
appears. Tap RESTART. You will be prompted to
confirm the action.
Caution: The RESTART operation will take
approximately 10 minutes during which time the
system is not available for presentation of content.
RESTART of the Media Block provides a controlled
start up process during which time the system verifies
the content of the SMS RAID.
Muting (Audio)
Content Elements include the audio component of the
presentation. However, the audio component exists as one
or more separate data files within the DCP. During
presentation the processing of the Audio Component
Tap
occurs in the Media Block. As a result, Muting of the
Audio Component is under control of the Media Block
("muting" or dousing of the picture occurs in the
Projector).
• Muting (ON/OFF)
To silence the audio output from the Media Block, tap
Menu, tap Media Block, and then tap the Muting
OFF button. This is an alternate action button that
indicates what action will be taken when activated.
• OFF — Audio Output will Mute when tapped.
• ON — Audio Output will un-Mute when tapped.
DCP Storage Capacity
The amount of storage space available on the RAID for
DCPs is set using the SMS Controller application. The
DCP Used Space indicator provides you with a graphic
indication of how much of the allocated space has been
used as a percentage of the space allocated. A numeric
value is also shown.
Available Shows
Show Playlists must be composed in a separate
application, e.g., The SMS Controller. Once created, they
are saved in the SMS Server and can be scheduled as
Shows.
• Available Shows
As soon as the Show Playlist (SPL) has been saved on
the SMS Server it appears in the Available Shows list.
