The family is made up of four models, either color or monochrome, with either 4 or 9 video inputs. Available in PAL/CCIR format. A key feature of the ATA-4/9 CSqX/MSqX is its simplicity. This results in quick and easy installation, and ease of use. The unit automatically senses which camera inputs are connected and then sets up the record list and sequence lists automatically.
The Aritech ATA-4/9 CSqX/MSqX can also decode tapes made on Dedicated Micros multiplexers. The ATA-4/9 CSqX/MSqX family is part of a large range of Aritech multiplexers. Tapes recorded on an ATA-4/9 CSqX/MSqX unit can also be played back in full-screen or multi-screen on the other advanced Aritech multiplexers, and vice-a-versa.
Installation and Operation Manual Installation Environment • Install the multiplexer unit so that the cooling vents are not obstructed. • Protect the unit from extreme hot or cold temperatures. • Use an uninterruptable AC power supply (UPS). • Do not place any weight that exceeds 35 lb. (16 kg) on top of the multiplexer. The unit's technical specifications appear in Section 4, starting on page 4-1.
Installation and Operation Manual The Rear Panel The rear panel connections are the same on 4-channel and 9-channel multiplexers except the amount of Camera BNC inputs. VCR composite input, BNC VCR composite Monitor output VEXT connector output, BNC composite, BNC 12 Vdc power, VEXT 12V DC...

Installation and Operation Manual Camera Output Connections When connecting cameras to the multiplexer, use only 75-ohm video coaxial cables and BNC connectors. For each camera, there are two BNC jacks. Either jack can receive a camera’s signal. This signal is looped (directly connected) to the other jack, making the camera’s signal accessible to other equipment.
Installation and Operation Manual NOTE: In this manual, real-time mode is defined as 3-hour mode. VEXT simplifies multiplexer operation by automatically synchronising the multiplexer to the VCR. The VEXT signal is especially useful with VCRs having dual recording speeds (alarm and normal), because it makes the multiplexer follow alarms.

Not Used NOTE: A VEXT pulse edge switch is available. It is needed only for problem solving. DO NOT change its setting unless you are advised to do so by Aritech Technical Support. Power Supply NOTE: Be sure to read Power-Up and Testing below before applying power.

Cameras Not Connected On power up, the ATA-4/9 CSqX/MSqX automatically senses which cameras are not active (not connected), and it does not include such cameras in the record list, and the default sequence list. (Refer to Section 2.2, page 2-7 for the procedure to add a camera to the system at a later stage.)
Installation and Operation Manual PERATING ODES AND APABILITIES Principal Operating Modes Aritech units have three principal modes of operation: Table 2-1. The Three Principal Operating Modes. Mode Buttons Description Instructs the unit to display Live images in full-screen or Live multiscreen formats.
VCR. While the ATA-4/9 CSqX/MSqX is recording, all the displays on the monitor are live, full-screen displays, unless VCR VIEW mode is selected. The user can sequence the live full-screen camera images, or select a fixed live camera for display while recording.
If the VCR is not playing, and the ATA-4/9 CSqX/MSqX is in Record mode when VCR View is selected, then the images that are going to the VCR from the unit will be displayed. This can be used to verify that the unit is multiplexing correctly, and that the desired time-lapse mode has been selected.

The Freeze function does not work while in VCR View, and the unit's LEDs do not indicate the camera displayed. The Aritech unit can properly interpret tapes encoded on Dedicated Micros (DM) multiplexers with a program switch setting on the rear panel. This is useful in installations that already have other DM multiplexers.
Installation and Operation Manual Changing Cameras in the Quad Display Changing Cameras in the Quad Display (9-channel units only) Any camera can be displayed in any position in the unit’s quad display. The default quad view display shows the cameras 1 to 4 in ascending order. In the Live mode, the user can display one camera in more than one position, while in Play mode, each camera can be displayed only once in the quad.
Installation and Operation Manual Start Sequencing To select any full-screen display, press the camera number button, and then the SEQUENCE button. Cancel Sequencing To cancel sequencing, press either the SEQUENCE button (again), any camera number button, or the MULTISCREEN button. AutoList and Sequencing The AutoList function lets the user change the default camera sequence and dwell settings, and can accommodate up to 32 cameras.
2.10 Adding and Removing Cameras Adding cameras to the unit If cameras are added after the ATA-4/9 CSqX/MSqX is powered up, those cameras will not be in the ATA-4/9 CSqX/MSqX’s sequence and record lists until the unit is powered off, and then on again.
