    The CS-3 sends cue advances for slides via a standard Wireless LAN connected through CAT 5E cable. The CS-3 sends out cue numbers for each PDA via the local area network and the slides are stored in the PDA on flash RAM cards. The composite video output utilizes a standard RCA (phono) connection, while the prerecorded audio outputs via three unbalanced stereo 3.5 mm jacks.

    5 – Key button pad: used for transferring files to and from CS-3. 6 – LED indicators for unit power and hard drive activity. 7 – Reset power: used to turn unit “on” only if the CS-3 is powered down by the windows program and not the back panel switch.

    TIMING PDA 2 Midi Connections: The CS-3 has up to 4 midi inputs or 3 midi inputs with SMPTE time code on specified models. These inputs control the timing of the audio and video outputs during a live performance. The CS-3 reads midi show control, SMPTE time code, midi time code, midi notes and midi machine code to synchronize the slides and audio segments to the action on stage.

    The CS-3 is shipped with the input voltage set to 115 VAC 50-60 Hz unless otherwise specified. The CS-3 is furnished with a detachable AC power cord rated for 15 A at 115 VAC that plugs into a 15 A outlet.

    Audio File Creation and Saving: The audio files for the CS-3 are saved in a wav file format and are loading onto the hard drive by a USB flash stick, USB hard drive or CD-ROM. The total audio segment should not exceed 20 hours or 9,999 files.

    Open pcAnywhere on the remote computer and highlight the “Remote Control” icon. Then double click on the “Modem “ icon. The program will ask you for the phone number of the CS-3. Note: Make sure you type in the proper phone number with area code and outside line numbers where necessary.

    Getting Started: The CS-3 is shipped completely setup for use. The main page has three main menus and displays the incoming cues from the midi devices. Rehearsal-Create a new Rehearsal Menu: Menu creates a new rehearsal file for Power Point, Audio 1, Audio 2, Audio 3, PDA A, or PDA B.

    Under the midi options menu you can check the information that you want the CS-3 to track for that port. All non-relevant midi data should be unchecked.

    Make Cue File from Rehearsal: Rehearsal files are the real time recording of the inputs and outputs of the CS-3. The Cue file is a reduce version of the Rehearsal file that tells the unit to play or send an internal cue after a specific midi / show cue.

    Virtual Display: This is a desk top display of the front panel controls. All of the front panel controls can be performed from this display. Used mainly when CS-3 is located in a remote location with limited access. SMPTE Display: Used with CS-3 units equipped with a SMPTE interface. This display shows the running time of the SMPTE input.

    Nexus Software: The Nexus software is the connection and monitoring program between the CS-3 Main Station and the individual PDA’s.     PowerPoint presentation. CS-3 PDA Operation  Note: Never perform a hard reset on the PDA. The PDA is loaded with the CS-3 PDA software on the EPROM of the PDA at the factory. Therefore, the program is only erased if hard reset is preformed. All other function including a soft reset and fully discharging the battery will not erase or affect the program.

    To operate unit remove it from the charger. Turn on the device by pressing the power button located at the top of the unit. The PDA should automatically connect to the CS-3 it has been assigned or the strongest signal (see setup instructions).
  • Page 20 The PDA’s will ship preprogrammed to work with your CS-3. The connection method for an X50 or X51 will be set to automatic connection method. The PDA’s can connect to the CS-3 in 3 ways. Automatic is the easiest type for the end user but you should choose the type that best fits your facilities needs.
  • Page 21 CS-3 WiFi signal. Once it connects it will not find another CS-3 unless the unit is reset. You may not want to use this feature if you have multiple CS-3’s in your facility and the distribution point is not near the WiFi router you would like to connect to.

  • Page 23: Pda Rehearsal

    A rehearsal is used to time the slide or audio files to the shows midi cues. To access the Rehearsal screen you need to start the PDA and let the unit connect to the CS-3 control station. Once connected you can exit the program or run a remote rehearsal by pressing the following buttons on the PDA.
  • Page 24 This is way to test what is loaded on the SD card. System Administrator: Test Mode: Allow the operator to exit the CS-3 PDA software. This allows you to get to the Pocket PC programs. Reset unit: Forces the unit to perform a soft reset. This performs the same function as pressing the recessed button the back of the unit.
