BORDO User’s Guide 1.4 SET UP OF OSCILLOSCOPE The oscilloscope works in composition PC with the following characteristics: • Processor: Pentium-166 (or corresponding AMD) and higher; • RAM not less than 32 Mb; • Recommended monitor screen resolution 1024 × 768;...
Description 1.5 OPERATION THEORY The signal submitted on input of the vertical amplifier is normalized and ampli- fied up to the necessary value. The processed signal feeds ADC inputs, where digi- tal data capture with specified sample rate occurs. Acquired data stored in internal memory buffer for further transfer into PC memory.
2.2.1 Unpacking Your BORDO series card contains electro-static sensitive components that can easily damaged by static electricity. Therefore, the card should be handled on a grounded anti-static mat. The opera- tor should be wearing an anti-static wristband, grounded at the same point as the anti-static mat.
\Driver\ on the compact disc. The system will install the neces- sary driver depending on the type of operating system installed on PC. Install the software from AURIS compact disc, following the instructions of the install program.
2.3 OPERATING CONTROL DESCRIPTION 2.3.1 Software appearance After start of the application, the main application window appears on the screen. Main window’s screenshot is shown on fig. 2.1. The figure contains para- graph’s references with controls description. The main window contains following items: the three upper lines are (up-to- down): window title, menu bar and toolbar.
BORDO User’s Guide 2.3.2 Menu commands The Menu bar contains following items: File, View, Devices, Window, Help. The File menu includes a list of commands, a short information of which is listed below. New opens a new window for measurement execution.

Operating control description Exit closes the oscilloscope program. If you have not saved data files, the pro- gram will ask about saving before exit. View menu includes following commands: Toolbars / Standard shows or hides (sequen- tially) Standard toolbar. Toolbars / Device shows or hides (sequen- tially) Device toolbar.

BORDO User’s Guide Navigation / Best Fit sets screen scale of all time interval and all amplitude range. Navigation / Zoom to 100 % sets screen scale according one pixel — one sam- ple (zoom factor 1:1). Navigation / Fit Horizontally sets zoom factor for all time interval display.
Operating control description Window menu includes fol- lowing commands: Configuration — displays the dialog box Representation op- tions for selection of available oscilloscope channel and adjust- ments transform properties. For further, menu contains a standard set of commands for signal windows placement and arrangement as well as list of signals.

Operating control description Further windows of the “frozen” signals image are located. Windows contents: 1. The character of the “frozen” channel. 2. The number of the appropriate real channel. 3. The serial number of the channel. 4. Field of activation “frozen” channel imaging. Left click the mouse on the window of “frozen”...
BORDO User’s Guide 2.3.8 Keyboard commands The most common commands may be called with the help of the computers keyboard. Below in the table is the command list and a shortcut key calling them. Menu commands Keyboard equivalent File / New Ctrl N File / Open…...
2.4 USING OSCILLOSCOPE 2.4.1 Program start The dialog box Representation Option appears after start of the program, and at creation of a new “document” (menu command File / New or at pressing the ap- propriate button toolbars ). The form of signal representation can be selected from the given window: signal, spectrum (FFT) or amplitude distribution, and the working configuration of the oscilloscope: dual-channel or one-channel operating mode (for dual-channel oscilloscope).
BORDO User’s Guide 2.4.2 Preparation for measurement It is necessary to carry out an initial device calibration after install- ing the oscilloscope card on com- puter for correct operation and meas- urements. To perform calibration select menu item Calibrations of...
Using oscilloscope channel for which above operations at present can be made, is named active. Select the channel with the help of the “mouse”. For this purpose it is necessary to place the pointer in the Hot panel (p. 2.3.4) on the Screen panel and click the left key of the “mouse”.
BORDO User’s Guide 2.4.5 Timebase mode selection Select the scanning factor (sam- pling rate) in General menu located in the B2xx (i) option dialog box, opened from the menu Devices or by pressing the appropriate button tool- bars The scale of the horizontal visu- alization can be selected from the window Timebase.
Using oscilloscope close to signal frequency (d), you will see sine wave with frequency f = (1/N)⋅f (c). To prevent aliasing, it is recommended to observe signal with fast timebase rate, and then decrease it to comfortable values. 2.4.6 Using random interleaving sample (RIS) mode Random interleaving sample (RIS) mode is used to explore periodic signals.
BORDO User’s Guide 2.4.7 Time range setting The digital storage oscilloscope captures input signals in internal memory buffer which depth can be set by user. Sample rate and memory buffer depth define data time length. In order to change the existing data length use Segment size in B2xx (i) menu (see p.
Using oscilloscope The mode of an average of a registered signal switches on in section Averaging menu General B2xx (i) option dialog box, displayed from the menu Devices or at pressing the appropriate button toolbars (see figure in item 2.4.5). In the oscilloscope program are two types of averaging implemented: •...
BORDO User’s Guide Slope option allows setup trigger slope that starts oscilloscope scanning in both Normal and Auto modes. The trigger slopes are Rising and Falling edges (positive, negative slopes). Option Trigger level allows triggers level setup in Volts. Option Single Shot switches-on (off) single shot trigger mode (one-cycle meas- uring process).
Using oscilloscope In the cursors panel information allocate the field of activation cursor imag- ing, field for choice of cursor color and coordinates of the cursor, X-axis — sec- onds, Y-axis — volts (grouped for each cursor), and also a difference of cursors coordinates.

Using oscilloscope The option Measuring Region defines the input sig- nal area to calculate the parameters: • Memory — the input sig- nal area is the whole se- lected memory buffer; • Between cursors — the input signal area to calcu- late the parameters is de- fined as an area between two cursors placed on data...
BORDO User’s Guide 2.4.14 Spectrum analyzer mode For operation in the spectrum analyzer mode it is necessary to select the form of registered signal representation — FFT (from the window Type) after start of the program or at the new “document” creation in the opened dialog box Representa- tion Option.
BORDO User’s Guide The program realizes two types of averaging: • Floating — the average is carried out on last N cycles of measurement indi- cated in the edit box cycles (by a principle of queue). The signal on the screen is updated after each cycle of measurement;...
Using oscilloscope In the section of Transform Properties to set required parameters: • Histogram size — reduces the quantity of significant bits for noisy bits elimi- nation; • Scale — select the presentation mode of Y-axis: Absolute (quantity of hits) or Relative (percent from all hits);...
BORDO User’s Guide At pressing the “…” button the standard dialog box Save is displayed where you can select a folder and a filename. After definition of all export parameters of signal it is necessary to press the “OK” button.
BORDO User’s Guide 2.4.18 Program settings For adjustments in the program settings it is necessary to perform the command File / Program Settings… then on the screen the dialog box Program settings will appear. Dialog box contents: • Program settings — adjustments for program operation;...
