How does the EasyPro Pressure Filter work?
• The pond filter is placed in-line between the pond pump and
the waterfall.
• Water enters the filter at an angle, creating a
vortex inside the EasyPro pressure filter to
settle out the solid debris.
• Water is forced down through three layers
of special density foam pads. Because the
water is pressurized the foam can fill with
many more beneficial bacteria without becoming
blocked. It is this larger number of bacteria taking
pollutants out of the water that make pressure filters
so effective.
• The water then passes through the plastic biomedia where
more beneficial bacteria cleans the pollutants.
• The UV light is then used on the passing water to kill free floating algae cells
which cause green water.
• As the foam layers in the pressure filter collect solids, the cleaning indicator on
the lid will rise up. This signals that the foam layers need cleaning.
These filters take in dirty water from the pump and return sparkling clear water to
your pond, minus the solids and green algae. The EasyPro pressure filter is ideal
for pond keepers who want simplicity, clear water and an attractive, hidden filter
system.

If the pond is not going to run all winter, drain the filter and remove from the ground and store in a warm dry place. • All electrical work must be performed by a qualified technician. Always follow the National Electrical Code (NEC) or the Canadian Electrical Code as well as all local, state and provincial codes. Code questions should be directed to your local electrical inspector. Failure to follow electrical codes and OSHA safety standards may result in personal injury or equipment damage. Failure to follow manu- facturer’s installation instructions may result in electrical shock, fire hazard, personal injury or death, damaged equipment, provide unsatisfactory performance and may void manufacturer’s warranty. Installation of the Pressure Filter 1. The ECF10U, ECF25U and the ECF40U come with the UV light already installed. 2. Position pump at the furthest point from the waterfall. Run the tubing out of the pond and bury or conceal the tubing. 3. It is recommended that the pump be housed in an EasyPro skimmer or in an EasyPro submersible pump protector. 4. Position the pressure filter anywhere around the pond. Since the discharge is under pressure, the filter can be located downhill from the waterfall. 5. Dig a hole big enough for the filter to sit in. Dig the hole deep enough so the retaining ring is left exposed out of the ground. 6. If installing a unit with clips, make sure the clips are left exposed out of the ground. 7. Recess the filter into the previously dug hole. 8. Connect the tubing from the pump to the black barbed fitting, which attaches to the intake, which is marked with an arrow pointing in. 9. Connect the tubing from the waterfall to the clear barbed fitting that is then attached to the dis- charge, which is marked with an arrow pointing out. 10. Run the tubing to the waterfall and bury the tubing for the best look. 11. If the pressure filter unit is equipped with a UV light make sure it is properly plugged into a GFCI protected outlet.

Lamp Replacement 1. Make sure the unit is disconnected from the power source. 2. For the ECF10 (U) proceed to step three, then proceed to step five and continue. For the ECF25 (U) and ECF40 (U) proceed to step four, then pro- Figure 1 ceed. 3. Loosen the screws on the top retaining ring. Do not remove the screws - do not remove the retaining ring. Twist the UV housing and match the arrow on the UV Figure 2 cover with the arrow on the retaining ring. Gently pull up on the cord and cover in the back to loosen the UV cover. Carefully remove the black protector on the end of the bulb. Install Figure 8 the black protector on the end of the new UV Figure 7 light bulb. (see figure 8) 11. Carefully install the new UV bulb in the base, be sure to use a clean cloth to install the new bulb. Press the bulb firmly into the base until you here a click. (see figure 7) 12. Carefully slide the new bulb into the sleeve and screw the cap into place. 13. Reattach the cord retainer clip with the two screws. 14. If you have an ECF25U or an ECF40U set the UV cover back on top of the pressure filter and tighten the three Figure 9 screws. 15. If you have an ECF10U make sure to line up the power cord in the back with the slot in the UV cover. Be sure to line up the two slots in the front of the UV cover with the...

Make sure to line up the power cord in the back with the slot in the UV cover. (see figures 3 & 9) 16. Install the UV light cover and screw down the retaining ring. (see figure 1) 17. Reattach the barbed fittings to the pressure filter. Figure 13 Pressure Filter Cleaning 1. There is a cleaning indicator on the top of the filter. It will be green in normal operation. When the fil- ter needs to be cleaned the indi- Figure 14 cator will turn to red. (see figures 14 & 15) 2. When this occurs, if the pressure filter is equipped with UV, disconnect the pump from the power source. 3. If the filter is a pressurized unit, the pressure must be re- leased before removing the lid. This can be done by disconnecting the inlet and outlet hoses. Figure 15 4. If your unit is an ECF10 or ECF10U, you will need to undo the four retain- ing clips. If your filter is an ECF25 (U) or ECF40 (U), you will need to release the tension ring. If the filter pads are deteriorated, discard and replace with new pads. 8. See replacement parts chart for the correct size and part number for your pressure filter. 9. If there is excess build up in the bottom of the pres- sure filter, you can rinse it out but do not clean 100%. This is where the beneficial bacteria grow. (see figure Figure 17 10. Replace the filter pads and install the lid assembly and clamp down with retaining clips or tension ring. (see figures 16 & 18) 11. If for some reason the large o-ring comes off, it is best to put it back on the lid assembly instead of the filter bucket. (see figure 22) 12. Hook hoses back up, plug in the UV lamp and turn the pump back on. Figure 18 Figure 19 Figure 21 Figure 20 Figure 22...
