Scope 1.1.1 Audience This manual is intended for properly trained service personnel and technicians who need to install the BPS12 Battery Power Supply. BPS12 and surrounding equipment. You can install the BPS12 yourself or arrange for someone else to install it for you. Zultys does not offer installation. If you purchased the BPS12 from a VAR or distributor they will be able to offer you installation services.
Zultys Technologies (Zultys) provides a warranty to the purchaser of its products as outlined below. For purchases made in the USA, Canada, the UK, China, and Australia, the purchaser is the end user. For all other sales, the purchaser is Zultys’ reseller or distributor, who has sold you, the end user, the product.

For warranty service or repair, this product must be returned to a service facility designated by Zultys. Zultys may repair on-site at the option of the Buyer. The Buyer is then responsible for travel charges and applicable additional expenses for such services.
This section suggests ways to save yourself time by checking for answers yourself and ruling out common problems. If you have a question about the way the BPS12 works, the best way to get an accurate, immediate answer is to try one or all of these approaches first.

2.4.3.3 Calling Technical Support Be prepared when you call. When you call to speak to Zultys technical support, you are likely to get an immediate resolution to your problem if you are ready with certain types of information: E-mail a problem report in advance of calling. Allow Zultys technical support at least four hours to review your e-mail.

3.2.1 Verify Contents There are few hardware options for the BPS12. Upon delivery of your system, inspect the packing list, and confirm that all items listed on that note were received. Compare the packing slip with your purchase order. Your BPS12 is usually shipped with an ac power cord, one battery power cable, rack mount brackets, and sufficient screws to securely mount the power supply to your equipment rack.

The method of shipment which Zultys will return repaired merchandise back to your facility will be the same method by which you shipped the merchandise to Zultys. For example, if you shipped merchandise to Zultys by ground shipment, Zultys will return the merchandise to you by ground shipment.

4. Hardware Description Status Indicators The BPS12 provides three LEDs on the front and rear panels to inform you of device status and an audio alarm to alert you of conditions that require your attention. The front and rear panel LEDs are equivalent and always display the same status messages.
When a condition causes all LEDs to flash red, the LEDs will continue to flash red for a minimum of 32 seconds before the system shuts down. The BPS12 flashes all LEDs red and buzzes the audio alarm continuously under the following conditions:...

A fully charged BPS12, at room temperature, can discharge a current of 0.6 A for 20 hours, which equals a battery capacity of 12 Ah. However, the same BPS12 can discharge a current of 8 A for only one hour, for a battery capacity of 8 Ah.
• the instructions for attaching the BPS12 to an equipment rack The BPS12 was designed to be permanently installed within a network room in a 19" equipment rack. You must carefully install the BPS12 system to ensure its proper operation.
The combined load current for systems connected in parallel must not exceed 10 A. 1. You may purchase extender brackets if the equipment bay is 23" instead of 19". Check with your Zultys representative for the part number and pricing of these brackets.
The BPS12 has a universal ac input that you can connect to a standard electric outlet (90 Vac to 264 Vac, 47 Hz to 63 Hz). The BPS12 draws a maximum current of 9.3 A from its ac input. 5.2.1.6 Cable Lengths You need to install the BPS12 so that you can run the battery supply cable to your load.

Devices that connect to the BPS12 are likely to be the MX250, MX1200, the LAN switch, and other BSP-12s. All connections to the BPS12 are made at the rear side of the system. Leave space at the rear of the system for cables and for personnel installing the system.

Once mounted in position with the screws in place, use a power screwdriver to tighten all four screws. 1. The BPS12 is supplied with four 12-24 mounting screws for conventional 19” equipment racks. Zultys supplies M6 screws for metric threaded racks.

LED will turn green when charging is complete. Danger You must use only the power cord supplied by Zultys when connecting this system to ac power. If this is not suitable, contact your Zultys sales or service representative. The power cord that is provided has a separate ground (earth) connector, and you must insert it into a power socket that is provided with a protective ground (earth) contact.
You can connect up to five BPS12 units for a maximum discharge capacity (at 0.6 A) of 60 Ah.

Only trained and qualified personnel should be allowed to maintain the BPS12. Servicing The only user serviceable parts on the BPS12 are the seven fuses that are accessible from the rear panel. This section describes the method of diagnosing possible fuse failures and the method of replacing the fuses.
