2.3.1. Docking Station Server (DSS) Overview The Docking Station Server (DSS) is a computer that controls the entire DS2 Docking Station system, including all of the IDSs on the Docking Station Network. The DSS sends information to, and retrieves information from, IDSs and the instruments docked in them.
  • Page 11: Docking Station Server Admin Console (Dssac) Overview

The Docking Station Server Admin Console (DSSAC) is a Windows -based application that is used to manage the DS2 Docking Station system. The DSSAC is used to manage instrument data, view IDS status, and manage Docking Station Server configurations. Before using the DSSAC for the first time, read Chapter 3 Getting Started for an overview of the application’s user interface.

Configuring the DS2 4.11. Using iGas iGas is an optional feature of DS2 Docking Station that uses a Smart Card to automatically configure gas cylinders. This feature can save time that you would spend manually disabling and then reconfiguring a Gas In connection in the DSSAC each time you change a gas cylinder.
  • Page 104 NOTE: If you are using iGas, do not edit the cylinder configuration in DSSAC. Doing so could temporarily override the settings configured by iGas, possibly causing DS2 Docking Station to use inaccurate information for calibrations or bump tests. If the settings do get overwritten, simply reinsert the iGas Smart Card to reconfigure the gas cylinder.

6.1. Introduction to IDS Clusters DS2 Docking Station allows IDSs to be connected together so that they can share the same gas cylinders. This configuration is referred to as an Instrument Docking Station cluster. This section provides an overview of, as well as instructions on how to set up, IDS clusters.
