INTRODUCTION OF FEATURES The Audisse Shirudo provides the following features in an attractive compact unit: ● Listen to local, regional, national and international broadcasts using FM, DAB and Internet radio ● Listen to over 1000 radio stations from around the country, and over 10,000 from around the world without using your PC.
BEFORE YOU CAN USE THIS PRODUCT Before you can use Audisse Shirudo, you must have the following: ● A broadband Internet connection (not required for DAB, FM, Bluetooth, AUX-IN or Music Player functions). ● A wireless router (WiFi) connected to your broadband Internet Service Provider, preferably via a router.
WiFi network. This may take up to one minute. When the Audisse Shirudo is operated on AC power and put into Standby mode it will remain in Standby mode (date and clock display) and can remain connected to the WiFi network.
The optimum working life from the built-in battery will be obtained if it is kept topped up by recharging after each use of the Audisse Shirudo, even if it is only partially discharged. The battery’s working life will be reduced if the product is left in a discharged condition for a long period of time.

NAVIGATION CONTROLS This page describes the basic means of controlling your Audisse Shirudo sound system. Instructions for each operating mode are given in the later sections of this book. Pressing the Power button brings Audisse Shirudo out of Standby mode.

OFF * CONNECTING TO YOUR COMPUTER NETWORK Before you can use your Audisse Shirudo sound system to listen to Internet radio or to music streamed from your computer, it must first be connected to your computer network. This section of this book describes how to connect the sound system to your network using the wireless (WiFi) connection.

WEP keys are 10 or 26 characters long (using 0 - 9, and A - F). Some wireless routers can also use pass-phrases for WEP but these are not supported by the sound system. WPA keys are usually set up using a pass-phrase of between 8 and 63 characters. Audisse Shirudo accepts pass-phrases for WPA keys.
Press ‘SELECT’ to exit 10. Once you have connected Audisse Shirudo to the network (and therefore also to the Internet) it will display the Main menu. Press the Power button to put the sound system into Standby/Off mode. It should then display the time as obtained from the Internet. INTERNET RADIO - THE BASICS Before you can use Audisse Shirudo to listen to broadcasts via the Internet, it is necessary to have connected it to your computer network using the wireless (WiFi) connection. There are literally many thousands of radio broadcasts available via the Internet as well as ‘Podcasts’.

6. The display will show a list of countries within the chosen continent. If there are many countries shown you can scroll through the list continually in either direction. IF YOUR RADIO CANNOT CONNECT TO A RADIO STATION Note: If Audisse Shirudo is unable to connect to an internet radio station it will generally either display ‘Network Error’ or ‘Stopped’. SEARCHING FOR A RADIO STATION BY NAME There may be occasions when you know the name of a radio station but you do not know the location or genre. This facility allows you to search for the station using a part (or parts) of the radio station name.

SELECTING A POPULAIR STATION As described in the section ‘Internet Radio – the basics’, your radio connects via the Internet to a database of radio stations. This option is provided to highlight stations that are newly added to the list of those available, or stations that are particularly popular with listeners around the world.

LAST LISTENED PRESET + It is often helpful to be able to go back to a station that you have recently listened to. Audisse Shirudo has a ‘Last Listened’ feature that provides you with quick access to the ten most recently listened to radio stations or podcasts.

‘My Favourites’ and ‘My Added Stations’. Audisse Shirudo uses a database that is accessed via the Internet in order to find out which radio stations are available and how it should connect to them. You are able to add your personal selections to this database.
Audisse Shirudo. Suitable names might be ‘Rock’, ‘Smooth’, ‘Mum’s stations’, and so on. When ever you add another radio station to your favourites you can either add it to an existing category or create a new one.
4. It is possible to add the web addresses for audio streams that may not be playable by Audisse Shirudo. If you attempt to play such a stream, Audisse Shirudo will normally display an error message of some kind. The Audisse Shirudo can only play MP3, WMA, FLAC, AAC and Real Audio streams.

In addition, it is possible to specify audio streams for ‘My added stations’ that are not compatible with Audisse Shirudo. In this event the station will not be playable. The Audisse Shirudo can only play MP3, WMA, FLAC, AAC and Real Audio streams.

In order to play files from a computer on your network, Audisse Shirudo must connect to a file server application that uses the Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) protocol. If your computer uses Windows XP or Vista, then it is likely that your computer already has a UPnP server application available.
‘Add to Library... > Advanced Options’, click ‘Add’, choose the files you wish to add and click ‘OK’. The next step is to connect Audisse Shirudo to Windows Media Player 11 and to configure the program to allow the sound system to access your media library.

FINDING NEW DAB RADIO STATIONS Should you wish to use Audisse Shirudo for DAB reception in a new location, or if no stations were detected during the initial scan, you can follow this procedure to allow Audisse Shirudo to find out which DAB radio stations are available.
DAB radio Station list > Full scan > Manual tune > TUNING SEEK/SELECT Prune > 4. Press the Tuning/Seek/Select control to initiate the scan. The display will show ‘Scanning’ VOLUME and your radio will perform a scan of the DAB frequencies used in the country. As new EQUALIZER stations are found the station counter will increase and stations will be added to the list.
Dynamic Range Control (also known as DRC) can make quieter sounds easier to hear when your radio is used in a noisy environment by reducing the dynamic range of the audio signal. 1. Press the Power button to switch on Audisse Shirudo. 2. Press the Source button as needed to select DAB radio mode.
DRC setting in the sound system will have no effect. STATION ORDER SETUP Audisse Shirudo has 3 station order settings from which you can choose. The station order settings are, alphanumeric, ensemble and valid. Note: The default station order on your radio is alphanumeric.
The Prune stations function will delete the marked DAB stations from your station list. 1. Press the Power button to switch on Audisse Shirudo. 2. Press the Source button as needed to select DAB radio mode.

The PRESET - Bluetooth indicator on the front panel will flash fast and showing “Bluetooth Discoverable”, “Please connect with a device to: Audisse Shirudo” on the display. The sound system will PRESET - then be discoverable by other devices.
4. Then pair the sound system with the new device using its Bluetooth settings (the sound system will be listed as ‘Audisse Shirudo’. The name of the newly connected device will be briefly shown on the sound system’s display. You may then play music from the new device through the sound system.
Keep the rubber cover well closed under these conditions. A 3.5mm Auxiliary Input socket located on the rear of Audisse Shirudo is provided for connecting the audio signal from an external audio source such as an MP3 or CD player.
Alternatively you may specify that the time is not automatically updated. In this case the clock must always be set manually after a power interruption. 1. With Audisse Shirudo switched on, press the Menu button to access the menu for the SOURCE current mode.
No update MANUALLY SETTING THE CLOCK The Audisse Shirudo sound system will normally set its clock automatically to the time zone as you selected in the setup wizard after a connection to the Internet has been established. Should you need to set the time manually, change the time zone, or manually switch from winter to summer time, then please follow this procedure.

EQUALIZER SETTING THE ALARM CLOCK Audisse Shirudo has two separate alarms that can be set to wake you to either the radio or a buzzer alarm. In the event of a power interruption Audisse Shirudo has built in memory that will retain your alarm settings.

DISABLING ALARMS 1. To disable a single alarm enter the alarm setup menu and rotate the Tuning/Seek/Select control until the desired alarm is highlighted on the display. Set sleep time PRESET - 30 minutes 5. Audisse Shirudo will switch into stand-by mode after the preset time has elapsed. An active PRESET + sleep timer is shown using a small timer indicator at the bottom of the playing displays. This indicator also shows the sleep time remaining before the radio switches itself into standby mode.
EQUALISER FUNCTION The sound on Audisse Shirudo can be adjusted to suit your personal taste for the material that you are listening to. The Audisse Shirudo has a range of equaliser modes. Alternatively you may set the treble and bass levels to your own preferences that can be accessed from the My EQ menu item.
SETTING UP YOUR MY EQ PROFILE If you find the preset equaliser functions not to your liking, you may set up a custom treble and bass setting as follows: 1. Follow steps 1-3 on the preceding page in order to enter the Equaliser menu. 2.

HEADPHONE SOCKET A 3.5mm Headphone Socket located on the rear of Audisse Shirudo is provided for use with headphones. Inserting a plug automatically mutes the internal loudspeaker. Please be aware that the sensitivity of headphones can vary widely. We therefore recommend setting volume to a low level before connecting headphones to the sound system.
