11. Troubleshooting

Warning
Any attempt on the part of the user to
repair a fault may damage or destroy the
keyboard's integrated electronic
components
Do not attempt to open and repair the
keyboard yourself.
Error messages on powering up or
scrambled characters on the screen:
Check the connection between the
keyboard and the computer system
- If the keyboard is not working
properly:
Check all connections; loose cables
and connectors are a common source
of faults
- If the magnetic swipe card is not
working properly:
Follow the procedure described in
section 5, then try again.
- If the barcode reader is not working
properly:
Follow the procedure described in
section 6, then try again or consult
your barcode reader manual
- If the smart card terminal is not
working properly:
Check that the smart card is
positioned correctly in the reader;
make sure it is fully inserted and the
right way round.
Check the interface (port) settings in
the software on the PC and change
them if necessary.
Reboot the PC and note down the
flashing code (cf. Status Indicators),
call a service engineer, or see point
7 and try again.
Check the smart card's functions and
type.
