Functional Description A pair of 9973-C interface cards provides a 10 base T Ethernet link via the duplex high-speed ports available on many video and data fiber transmission cards. The 9973-C has a built-in four-port, unmanaged 10/100 Ethernet switch. The cards operate on 6VDC as supplied by the chassis into which it is installed.

9973-C Indicator, Connector, and Switch Locations IGURE HIGH-SPEED PORT STATUS INDICATOR This three-color indicator provides status on the high-speed port connection to the opposite end of the link:  (No Sync, No Loop), there is a problem with the signal being received from the opposite end of the link.
Page 11 10/100 ETHERNET SWITCH PORTS (PORTS 1 THROUGH 4)  Each of the eight RJ45 Ethernet switch ports is 10/100 Ethernet, Auto Negotiate, and Auto MIDX.  Each port has a yellow Full Duplex/Collision LED. This LED is always illuminated when the port is operating in Full Duplex mode.

Set Up and Operation of the 9973-C Set up and operation of the 9973-C cards consists of setting the high-speed cable length switch if necessary, installing the unit into a Series 9000 chassis, and connecting the Cat5 jumper cable from the high-speed port on the optical communications card to the 9973-C.
