Strangely, the dehumidifier stops at 56% humidity even though the level is set at 35%. It stops for a while, then starts again for a few minutes, then stops again. Keeps going like that. I have tried various settings, to no avail. Any idea what is going on, or what I might try? Thank you, Denis Larouche Gatineau, QC

The NOMA dehumidifier model 043-5794-8 may stop at 56% humidity instead of the set level of 35% due to a faulty humidity sensor. A defective sensor can give inaccurate readings, causing the unit to shut off prematurely because it incorrectly senses that the desired humidity level has been reached.

Why does my air conditioner smell like onions?

The NOMA air conditioner 043-5794-8 may smell like onions due to the buildup of mold, mildew, bacteria, or other organic materials on the internal components such as the evaporator coil or filter. When moisture combines with dust and organic particles, it can create odors that resemble onions or other strong smells. Cleaning or replacing the air filter, and cleaning the evaporator coils and drainage system, may help eliminate the odor.

To properly drain water from the NOMA 043-5794-8 dehumidifier using the hose:

1. Attach a clean drain hose to the drain outlet on the back of the unit.
2. Ensure the hose is securely connected and not kinked or blocked.
3. Position the other end of the hose to flow into a suitable drain at a lower level, using gravity for drainage.
4. Make sure the water drawer is correctly installed, even when using the hose.

If set up properly, water should bypass the drawer and flow through the hose.

What is the spec for the Coil Thermistor? Coil is freezing. I suspect the Thermistor as the compressor never turns off even when have the coils is frozen and the Thermistor has ice on it. The Thermistor part number I think is: Hisense k1896665 I measured it at 20C and -20C it gives me the following values: 6.5KOhms at 20C and 36.2KOhms at -20C. Although it is giving NTC like values I don't know if there are on spec. Tried moving the thermistor closer to the bottom of the coil, no change in behavior. Should I try changing the thermistor or is the problem the board or something else. Coils are clean, no error codes, all buttons work, other then freezing the unit runs fine. I'm lost... Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! Unit is a Noma 043-5794-8 VKD050

@Marc spelling corrections... What is the spec for the Coil Thermistor? Coil is freezing. I suspect the Thermistor as the compressor never turns off even when half the coils is frozen and the Thermistor has ice on it. The Thermistor part number I think is: Hisense k1896665 I measured it at 20C and -20C it gives me the following values: 6.5KOhms at 20C and 36.2KOhms at -20C. Should I try changing the thermistor or is the problem the board or something else? Coils are clean, no error codes, all buttons work, fan works, other than freezing, the unit runs fine. I'm lost... Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! Unit is a Noma 043-5794-8 VKD050

3. Locate the humidity sensor.
4. Clean the sensor using compressed air or by gently blowing on it.
5. Ensure the sensor is positioned close to the cold coil to function correctly.

Possible causes of the NOMA 043-5794-8 unit not collecting water after two months of use include:

1. Clogged or dirty humidity sensor – cleaning it with canned air has resolved the issue for some users.
2. Faulty or malfunctioning internal water pump – even if it runs, it may not be moving water properly.
3. Blocked or improperly connected drain hose – should be clean and correctly installed.
4. Dirty filters – back filter and filter near the water drawer should be clean.
5. Electrical issues – problems with wire harness connectors to the pressure switch or control unit.
6. Faulty inlet valve – may not be shutting off or operating properly.

Cleaning the sensor and filters is a good first step. If the issue persists, further inspection of components like the pump, wiring, and inlet valve may be needed.

Error code E9 on the NOMA dehumidifier model 043-5794-8 typically indicates a sensor or internal fault. To try to fix or remove the error:

1. Disconnect the unit from power and wait a few minutes.
2. Reconnect the power and turn it on.

If the error returns after multiple attempts, the issue may be internal and not user-serviceable. In that case, contact the retailer (such as Canadian Tire) for return or service options.
