To view your currently installed software version and check for an update:
Select Settings > System > About from the Fire TV menu.
Look for the Software Version section to view your currently installed software version. Select Check for
System Update to see if a software update is available for your device.
If an update is available, it will start downloading automatically. After the download is complete, select Install
System Update to install the update immediately. Otherwise, the update automatically installs the next time you
restart your device or after your device has been idle for more than 30 minutes.
New and Enhanced Features
The Fire TV Home screen now features browse categories for selected third-party content providers—including
Netflix. If you have an active subscription with one of these providers and their app is installed on your Fire TV,
you may see content recommendations from that provider on the Home screen and Your Videos.
Fire TV parental controls now include a PIN Protect App Launches setting. With this setting turned ON, you're
prompted to enter your parental controls PIN whenever you try to open an installed app on your device. You can
turn on PIN Protect App Launches by opening Settings > Parental Controls > PIN Protect App Launches.
Additional Prime sign up options are now available directly on your Fire TV. You can sign up for Prime during
first-time set up or by opening the video details for a Prime movie or TV show--just select More Ways to Watch,
then select the Also Available with Amazon Prime option on-screen. To learn more about Prime Video, go to
Prime Video in the main menu.
