    1 GENERAL The Basile 2600 Multifunction Printer is a microprocessor controlled device designed to acquire C . The Data can be printed- OUNTING OR IMING ATA OF SIX INDEPENDENT CHANNELS out on thermal paper in real time or saved in the internal memory be unload later on. The 2600 Multifunction Printer is also provided with a RS232C connector, located on the back panel, in order to route Data to PC in real time or to unload them later on.

    be set for single pulse or cumulative operation. Cumulative time interval are referred to a preset interval. The 2600 includes a Graphic display, a 4 button keyboard and the printer proper. The Graphic display monitors all available commands settable by the operator by simply acting on the 4 button keyboard located just below it.

    1.2 2600 INPUT CONNECTOR The input 15 pin Delta connector for linking external TTL signals to the 2600 Multifunction Printer is located on the rear panel of the unit. The 2600 Multifunction Printer is generally purchased for specific instruments and it comes already provided with suitable connection cables for these apparatus.

    2 INSTALLATION OF THE 2600 MULTIFUNCTION PRINTER Once the instrument has been unpacked, check the completeness of the shipment, packing list to hand, and visually inspect the instrument parts soon. If some part is damaged or, after having tested the complete assembled instrument, if fails to meet the rated performances, notify our company immediately.

    Turn the Multifuncion Printer ON by acting on the Mains Switch placed on the back side of the instrument, the software takes some seconds to perform a complete checking of any electronic circuit, in the meantime a mice picture is monitored and then the display shows the previous experiment setting.

    Remove the run-out chart and bobbin. Place a fresh roll into the Printer block with the sensitive side (shine side) down. Chart shine side must be facing you once the paper comes out. V-cut , with a pair of scissors, the beginning of the chart roll and insert it into the printer narrow rectangular slot located at the back of the printer body.
  • Page 9 The keyboard consists of 4 soft push-button switches marked F1, F2, F3 and F4. The meaning of them depends on software sub-routine in which we are working the display corresponding label just above its key. For instance, the F2 key, while in the Main Menu is labelled FNC (Function menu), once depressed, it acquires the meaning of CLK (Clock).

    The activated channels are listed with real time Data indication in the last step of the Main Menu loop, just before going back to the mice picture. The Data string shows, for any activated channel, in order from left to right: the input channel number among the 6 available, the Datum itself in 5 digits (3 integers and 2 decimals for Timing mode and 5 integers figures for Counting mode) and the elapsed time expressed in minutes (2 digits) from the beginning of the trial in progress.

    channels (see also page 10). How to set a Cumul. Timing Ch. ON OPR - CON - UP arrow to set ch. Number or All Ch. - ON - TMR - YES - UP/DOWN keys to set Interval in minutes - OK - NO. Repeat other channels (page 10).
  • Page 13 From the Main Menu depress the F1 OPR . By the F1 REP the operator can repeat the previous experiment having the same configuration. This saves time and reduce the risk of a wrong setting. This operation ALSO the printing interval (and the corresponding counter) in case it is already in RESETS progress.
  • Page 14 If F3 CNT key for Counting mode has been set the display will ask the operator to set the related Printing Interval. Act on the F1 UP & F2 DOWN keys to set the Interval expressed in minutes and highlighted in the middle of the monitor. Confirm the selection made by the F3 OK key .

    The above operations (channel ON/OFF and TMR or CNT mode) must be repeated for any channel in which the operator is interested. To set all the channel with the same configuration is advisable to select the ALL condition which allows to save time and reduces the risk of mistakes.
  • Page 16 Select now the F1 PAT key; the display will show : The F1 PRN key enables the operator to print in real time the Data of the activated channels. PRN status and any activated channel are displayed at the top of the monitor. Once F1 PRN key has been depressed and real time printing has been set, the operator may acquire the intermediate Data of the activated channels which are displayed at the top of the screen.

    is not possible. The F3 ALL key enables the researcher to select both output paths simultaneously, the Printer and the Serial. The 2600 output path status is highlighted in the upper part of the display by lighting PRN and/or SER labels. In case the operator wants to SWITCH OFF one of the previously activated choice (Printer and/or Serial path), it is necessary to enter again the PAT menu and depress the F4 ESC key, selecting no option.

The display will show : Depress now the F2 FTR key, the display shows: The FTR (Feature) menu enables to personalise the basic Datum, consisting of a Counting or of a Timing event, by adding some information : Sequence number Experiment number...
  • Page 19 The selected features will be kept in the memory even if the instrument is turned OFF. Once answered Yes to the “CHANGE FEATURE ?” question, the display will show : The first feature to be defined is the Sequence Number. Use the F1 UP and F2 DOWN keys to set the desired Sequence Number (from 01 to 99) and then confirm it by depressing the F3 OK key.

    If the researcher has selected the combined printing of Data with the corresponding Time & Date, this information appears on a second line: 01 2 003866 10 1ML12 Data string (01 = 2600 address, PC only) 01 ’96-11-15 09:23:48a Date & Time In case the operator wants to interrupt the print-out response of the stored Data, he/she has to depress the F4 ESC key for at least one second.

    reminds it by showing the Full Memory message every time the 2600 is switched ON. 3.1 SETTING TIME & DATE From the Main Menu depress in sequence the F2 FNC key followed by F2 once more (now labelled CLK). The display will show : Select F1 TIM to set TIME.

    Keep the F1 UP F2 DOWN key depressed until the desired display contrast is reached. Be careful with the fact that the display brightness can slightly vary in the course of the time depending on the instrument temperature, if it is necessary retouch it. The readability of the liquid crystal display depends on the angle of view, select the ideal contrast according to the height of the table, the operator’s distance and so on.
