Tips & Tricks
1. As rice cooks, steam will escape through vent in lid. Place glass lid on rice
cooker so steam vent is facing away from cabinets and walls. Do not place hand
over steam vent while rice is cooking; the hot steam may burn. Do not lift the lid
while cooking as this disrupts the cooking process.
2. If holding cooked rice on "warm" longer than 30 minutes, stir rice occasionally
to prevent browning of rice on the bottom of the inner bowl.
3. Do not allow all the liquid to evaporate from the bowl as this may burn or damage
the pot.
4. Bran may give an unpleasant odor to cooked rice, to remove bran, rice can
be washed in water. However, washing rice may cause it to lose nutrients and
vitamins
5. For more flavor, pre-soak rice in water for 30 minutes prior to cooking
6. Keep leftover rice in the refrigerator. To reheat cold rice in the Rice Cooker, add
about ½ to 1 cup of water into the pot and push the switch to "cook".
7. You may also choose to make vegetables, soups, oatmeal, beans, legumes and
more on the IMUSA Rice Cooker

Troubleshooting

• Problem: Rice has some hard grains/ does not seem fully cooked
Possible explanation: Rice has not been fully cooked. This may be because the
lid was opened during cooking.
Solution: When the switch pops to warm, allow the covered pot to rest for
about 15 minutes
• Problem: The pot seems too dirty after use, sticky residue is left behind.
Possible Explanation: The starch from the rice has stuck to the bowl
Solution: Fill the bowl with hot, soapy water and let it soak several minutes.
Use nylon or soft sponge to clean. To prevent this from happening, thoroughly
rinse the rice with water before cooking.
• Problem: Rice is boiling over
Possible explanation: Too much rice is being cooked
Solution: Do not cook more than the recommended amount of rice as per your
model's pot size recommendation on Chart B
• Problem: Rice is too dry/gummy
Possible Explanation: Too much/too little water for the amount of rice
Solution: Refer to chart A for proper water ratios. Tastes and preferences vary,
so you may need to make several pots before you find your particular preferred
texture.
