A. Detailed description of the UA-180's parts and functions:

1. Swivel Arm Lock Knob: For locking and unlocking the swivel arm. The right knob and

the left knob are identical in function. For maximum hold, it is recommended that you tighten

both knobs equal.

2. Panning Base Lock Knob: For locking and unlocking the panning base mechanism. The

right knob and the left knob are identical in function. For maximum hold, it is recommended

that you tighten both knobs left and right.

Warning: When unlocking the panning base lock, turning the knob past the point of

resistance may result in damage to the locking mechanism. Locking the knob tightly will

cause no such damage.

3. Lens Support Adjustment Knob: For locking and unlocking the vertical position of the

lens support base. It is used to move the lens support up and down as needed.

4. Quick Release Lock Knob: For tightening and loosening the quick release plate on the

quick release base.

5. Safety Pin: To safeguard the quick release plate and camera/lens from falling

accidentally. Push the pin to unfasten the quick release plate.

Page 3 They offer an additional support-link between the camera/lens and the lens support system of the UA-180. Tighten the locking screws as shown in the picture. Do not tighten one screw after another, but take turns tightening all screws partly, little by little, applying equal force.
Page 4 Press the safety pin while mounting or detaching the lens/camera/QRP (quick release plate) combination on the UA-180. To mount camera/lens/QRP, please slide the quick release plate into the track of the clamp at an angle, starting at the top. After the quick release plate has settled in the clamp, release the safety pin.
