Setup Step I: Configuring your machine First, you will need to make sure the system you are using is able to see the drive via the SAS connection. To do this, you will need to go to ‘Go > Utilities > System Information’. Here you will see a listing of all the connections associated with the system.

Make sure you have administrative rights to make changes to the system being used. You will need to go to ‘System Preferences > Security & Privacy’ and under the ‘General’ heading you will need to change ‘Allow apps downloaded from:’, ‘Mac App Store and identified developers’ to ‘Anywhere’ in order to initiate installation.

Step III: Configuring LTFS Manager Software Open up the LTFS Manager application. Click ‘Re-scan for tape drives’ if the drive is not visible by the manager. Before inserting the media into the drive, verify that the media does not have the write lock enabled.

Next, you’ll need to click on the ‘Mount Volume’ heading and then the ‘Mount’ button. Make sure your computer will not enter sleep mode while the tape is mounting. This may cause your data to become corrupted. To pull up the LTFS Volume, you will need to click on ‘Go > Computer’ and the window opened will give you access to your LTFS Volume.
