Murphy Bed
Installation Instructions
Before you begin...
make sure you have the proper
tools required to assemble your
Murphy bed.
Stud Finder
Electric Drill with Phillips Head,
Square Head and standard
1/8" drill bit
or countersink
bit (additional bits
needed for anchoring
to masonry)
Very narrow Flathead Screwdriver
Confirm that the following
hardware is included. If you find
you are missing anything, please
call us at 717-475-2856.
A - Gas Pistons (qty 2)
B - 3-1/2" #9 Drywall Screws
C - 1-1/4" Screws
D - 3/4" Screws

Step 1 – Bed Layout
Your bed will include the following:
1 - Face Panel/Bed Platform with pre-installed legs (A), safety stops (B),
matress straps (C), pivot pins (D) and piston plates (E)
2 - Side Panels with pivot mechanisms (F), headboard strips (G),
piston plates (H) and pre-installed bed stops (I)
1 - Headboard
1 - Top with crown molding or Solid Top
1 - Base molding

Place face panels face down on a blanket or carpet with pivot holes toward
the wall. Bottom of bed should be roughly 36 inches from wall.
Raise top of bed so that the legs are in position.

Improperly installed Murphy Beds can lead to serious injury.
This is a light to medium handyman job. Please read and follow all instructions.
Verify that screws are installed everywhere as indicated in the manual. If you do
not feel confident that your Murphy Bed has been safely installed, please either re-
anchor the Murphy Bed or contact a professional installer for assistance.

  • Page 3 Step 4 – Raise Side Panels and Install Top Figure A: Now that the back/headboard and side panels are installed, stand the side panels of the bed up. CAUTION - do not allow the face panel to fall Figure B: Slide side panels between crown molding and side strips (outside header strips).

Leaving the face panel down, pivot up side panels, headboard and top Before anchoring to wall… (all should be connected at this point) and position bed into place and level Make sure that top and sides are (+/- 1/8 inch).
  • Page 5 Using a wood drill bit, pre-drill four to six holes in the header strip of the Murphy Bed correspond to the holes made in the brick wall. Using masonry screws, secure the Murphy Bed to the wall with a power drill.
