INSTRUCTIONS

WARNING—When usingthis
appliance, alwaysexercisebasic
safety precautions, includingthe
following:

this Use and Care Book.
@This dryer must be properly
installedandhated in accord-
ante withthe InstallationInstrue-
tiums beforeit is used.
Properly ground to conform
with all governingcodesand
ordinances.
Locate wherethe temperature is
above 50*F(10'C) for satisfac-
tory operation of the dryer
control system.Do not installor
store the dryer whereit willbe
exposedto the weather.
Connect to a properly rated,
protected and sizedpower-
supply circuitto avoid electrical
overload.
Exhaustingto the outsideis
STRONGLYRECOMMENDED
to prevent large amounts of
moisture and lint from being
blown into the room. Carefully
followthe ExhaustingDetailsin
the Installation Instructions.
When disconnectingthis appli-
ance pull by the plug rather than
the cord to avoid damageto the
cord or junction of cord and plug.
Make sure that the cord is located
so that it willnot be stepped on,
tripped over or otherwisesubjected
to damage or stress.
~ We stronglyrecommendthat any
servicingbe performed by a quali-
fied individual.
QThe wiringdiagram for this
machineis located insidethe
contrql panel.
TOminimize the possibility
of a fire hazard.
@ Do not use heat to dry articles
containing rubber, plastic, or

similarmaterials (such as padded
bras, tennis shoes, galoshes,bath

mats, rugs, bibs, baby pants,
plastic bags, etc.) as these materia-
ls may melt or burn. Also, some
rubber materials, when heated,
can.under certain circumstances
produce fire by spontaneous
combustion.
@Garments labeled "Dry Away
From Heat" (such as lifejackets
containingKapok) must not be put
in your dryer.
@Do not wash or dry articlesthat
have been cleanedin, washedin,
soaked in, or spotted with combus-
tible or explosivesubstances(such
as gasoline,degreasers,dry-clean-
ing solvents,kerosene,etc.)which
may giveoff vaporsthat couldignite
or explode.Do not usesuch
substancesaround yourwasher
and/or dryer during operation.
@Any articleon whichyou have
used a cleaningsolvent,or which
contains flammablematerials
(such as cleaningcloths, mops,
towelsused in beauty salons,
restaurants or barber shops, etc.)
must not be placed in or near the
dryer until all traces of these flam-
mable liquidsor solidsand their
fumes have been removed. There
are many highlyflammableitems
used in homes such as: acetone,
denatured alcohol, gasoline,
kerosene, some household
cleaners, some spot removers,
turpentines, waxes, waxremovers
and products containingpetroleum
distillates.
@Clean the lint filter each time the
dryer is used to preventlint accu-
mulation insidethe dryer or in the
room. DO NOT OPERATE THE
DRYER WITHOUT THE LINT
FILTER IN PLACE.
~ Keep area around and under-
neath your appliancefree from the
accumulationof combustible
materials, such as lint, paper, rags,
chemicals,etc.

Never reach into the dryer while
the drum is moving. Beforeload-
ing, unloading or adding clothes,
wait until the drum has completely
stopped.
$ Close supervisionis necessaryif
this applianceis used by or near
children. Do not allowchildren to
play inside, on or with this appli-
ance or any discarded appliance.

Disposeof discardedappliances
and shippingor packingmaterials
properly.Before discardinga
dryer, or removingfrom service,
removethe door of the drying
compartment.
~ Keepall laundry aids (such as
detergents,bleaches,fabric soften-
ers, etc.) out of the reach of
children, preferablyin a locked
cabinet. Observeall warningson
containerlabelsto avoid personal
injury.
~ Keepthe floor around your
appliancesclean and dry to reduce
the possibilityof slipping.
~ Do not dry fiberglassarticlesin
your dryer. Skin irritation could
result from the remainingglass
particlesthat may be picked up
by clothingduring subsequent
dryer uses.
@The laundry processcan reduce
the flame retardancy of fabrics. To
avoid such a result, the garment
manufacturer'scare instructions
should be followedvery carefully.
~ Neverclimb on or stand on the
dryer top or door.
@To minimizethe possibilityof
electricshock, unplug this appli-
ance from the power-supplybefore
attempting any maintenanceor
cleaning(exceptthe removal and
cleaningof the lint filter). NOTE:
Timing the CycleSelectorKnob to
an OFF position does NOT dis-
connectthe appliancefrom the
power-supply.
@Do not tamper with controls.
@Do not operate this applianceif
it is damaged, malfunctioning,
partially disassembled,or has
missingor broken parts, including
a darnagedcord or plug.
@If yours is a gas dryer, it is
equippedwith an automatic
electricignitionand does not have
a pilot light. DO NOT ATTEMPT
TO LIGHT WITH A MATCH.
Burns may result from having your
hand in the vicinityof the burner
when the automatic ignition may
turn on.
