further 3.5-inch hard drive ensures outstanding reliability as well as
automatic data storage and easy installation. This system also puts
an end to cable clutter at PoS: One single power cable is required
for the entire cash register system and network integration is even
simple for novices thanks to the network interface or the optional
Epson wireless LAN card. Furthermore, 4 rapid USB 2.0 and 4 free
serial ports, parallel and PS/2 interfaces fulfil all requirements re-
garding peripheral connections.
At 250 x 340 mm, the footprint of the Epson IR-700 is extremely
compact. This can even be reduced to 250 x 260 mm thanks to the
kiosk kit for positioning the cash register vertically. Thus, the cash
register system is also ideal for the smallest spaces. Furthermore,
it features a "minimal profile" due to its compact dimensions and
does not impede eye contact with customers. The integrated DM-D
customer display proven innumerable times can be retained.

ponent of the Epson IR-700 is extremely robust and durable. The
operating life of components is well above average even when in
use "around the clock". Epson's comprehensive maintenance soft-
ware reduces failures and provides extensive remote diagnosis
and backup functions via ISDN, internet or LAN. The system's ser-
viceability is beneficial in case upgrade is required. Whether moth-
erboard, hard drives, printers or monitors, all components can be
accessed or exchanged rapidly and easily. Time required: less than
5 minutes.
On-site service into the bargain
For an entire year, on-site service is included in the purchase price
of the IR-700 as well as the other cash register systems SR and
MR. Qualified technicians replace, wherever possible, any defec-
tive components right where the cash register is installed, thus
ensuring quick resumption of smooth operation at the check-out
and keeping turnover losses to a minimum. For those wishing
longer-lasting dependability, there is also the option of extending
the on-site service to three or more years.
