  • Page 15 Overview The OBS+OP+5050D and OPSS+OP+D products are fiber optic Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing (CWDM) modules. The OBS+OP+5050D is a 50/50 splitter; the OPSS+OP+D is a protection switch. These products are designed to provide fiber link redundancy protection.     The OPSS+OP+D switch provides this protection either on an automatic basis, or as a manually-set device. The OPSS+OP+D is protocol transparent and can be used in CWDM optical networks. Alternately, the OBS+OP+5050D is a totally passive device that continually splits 50/50 the primary and standby fiber signals to provide redundancy protection.

    Chapter 2: Installation Maximum FR6802+ Frame Power Ratings OBS+OP+5050D and OPSS+OP+D modules operate only in fan- cooled FR6802+ frames, subject to the limitations shown in Table 2-1. These modules cannot be installed in 6800/7000 series frames. CAUTION To maintain proper temperatures, ensure that the front panel is closed at all times, and that the fan module is fully operational.

    Setting the Fiber Input Switch The OBS+OP+5050D and OPSS+OP+D modules have no jumpers to set. On the OPSS+OP+D, a single 3-position switch at the card edge (see Figure 2-1) locally controls the fiber inputs, or sets the module to remote control by CCS.
