Class 1A
A fuel powered professional chain saw,
intended for use by trained workers,
where the operator is expected to use
the chain saw for extended periods of
time on a daily basis
Class 1B
A fuel powered professional chain saw
for tree service, limited to a dry weight of
4.3 kg (9.5 lb), intended for use by
trained workers, where the operator is
expected to use the chain saw for
extended periods of time on a daily basis
Class 1C
A fuel powered consumer chain saw,
intended for general use by
homeowners, cottagers, campers, etc.,
and for general applications such as
clearing, pruning and cutting firewood
Class 2A
An electrically powered professional
chain saw, intended for use by trained
workers, where the operator is expected
to use the chain saw for extended
periods of time on a daily basis
Class 2B
A battery powered professional chain
saw, intended for use in tree service
work, limited to a weight of 5 kg (11 lb)
with battery
