UNPACKING EO18-33011 (Revision Date: Mar. 30, 2004) 1.3 PRECAUTION FOR INSTALLATION 1.3 PRECAUTION FOR INSTALLATION The printer with the serial number of 3Txxxxxx or later is provided with a battery for the real time clock. However, when the printer is delivered, this battery has not been connected to the CPU PC board. Therefore, it is necessary to connect the battery harness to the CPU PC board to enable the real time clock function.

The B-492L type and the B-492R type are symmetrically designed, however, the orientation or location of some parts are different.

Then, open the ribbon shaft holder plate. (Refer to Section 2.2.) 2) Before removing the ribbon stopper, check its attaching orientation for later installation.

NEVER touch the connector pins as static electricity discharges can damage the print head. NEVER remove the two screws painted red from the print block. NEVER remove the print block from the printer, as it requires the use of a special jig for correct adjustment of position when reassembling.

  • Page 17 2.6 REPLACING THE I/O PC BOARD • Ribbon Sensor Adjustment Procedure Use a TOSHIBA TEC-approved ribbon for sensor adjustment. (1) Set the ribbon so that the ribbon sensor can detect the ribbon. Then, turn the power on. (2) Turn the VR1 on the I/O PC board so that the voltage between the GND(Frame Plate: Refer to the figure on the previous page.) and TP1 is 3.0 ±0.2V when measured with an oscilloscope.

(Refer to Section 2.2.) 2) Remove the four SM-4x10 screws which secure the ribbon motor unit to the printer. 3) Disconnect the ribbon motor harnesses and slit sensor harnesses from the ribbon motor unit, and remove the ribbon motor unit from the printer.

CAUTION! Never separate the ribbon motor mounting plate from the ribbon motor (Feed), as doing so would require a special jig to reassemble it correctly.
