    Important Safeguards Carefully read all instructions before operating this appliance and save for further reference. Do not attempt to use this appliance for any other than the intended use, described in these instructions. Any other use, especially misuse, can cause severe injuries or damage by electric shock, heat or fire.

    • Do not place any foreign objects (e.g. clothes, pots) on or in the appliance. Do not leave any cooking utensils on the grill plates or in the fondue pot. Do not use any hard, sharp or edged objects (e.g. knives, fondue forks) on the grill plates. Only use cooking utensils made of heat-resistant plastic or wood with the grill plates.

    The installation of a residual current operated circuit breaker (r.c.c.b.) with a maximum rated residual operating current of 30 mA in the supplying electrical circuit is strongly recommended. If in doubt, contact your electrician for further information. In various foreign countries, the specifications for power supplies are subject to incompatible norms.

(See: “Care and Cleaning“) Before cooking, insert the plug into the outlet on the body, and the power supply plug into the socket outlet.

    Operation WARNING: Always ensure that there are no foreign objects in the raclette levels or fondue pot, the grill plates are inserted properly and both heating control dials are in the OFF position (turn to “–” position to the stop), before connecting the appliance to the power supply. Risk of Burns! The raclette will become very hot during operation, even at the exterior.

    Getting Ready for Use WARNING: For operation always place the appliance on a stable, heat-resistant surface. During operation, do not place any clothes, napkins or any other foreign objects under, beneath or on the appliance, in the raclette levels or fondue pot. Do not operate the appliance by using any parts or accessories not recommended by the manufacturer (e.g.

    Before switching ON the appliance, always ensure that the grill plates are properly in place on the bearing plates, and will not tilt or wobble, even if the grill plates are not in use. Do not use any hard or sharp-edged objects on the raclette dishes or grill plates, to avoid damage to the non-stick coatings.

    3. Put the food to be cooked on the grill plates and turn the RACLETTE heating control dial to the required position. (See: “Hints for Best Results“) 4. Turn the food with the supplied grill shovel. Do not use any hard or sharp edged objects on the grill plates! Using the Raclette Function WARNING: Risk of burns! Always keep in mind that the exterior of the appliance will get very hot during operation.

    • If using a marinade recipe or pre-marinated meats from your meat retailer, drain excess marina- de off and dab with kitchen paper before placing on the grill or cooking in oil as fondue. • When removing fish pieces from the grill plate, use the grill shovel or a flat heat-resistant plastic spatula to support the food.

    5. Use a plastic or wooden spatula to slide any residues off the grill plates. Remove stubborn residue with a nylon washing brush. Note: Dispose fat and meat juices as compost or in a closed vessel in the waste. 6. Wipe the grill plates with a soft cloth or sponge damped with warm dish-water to remove food residue.
