As you will read later in this manual, if used too much, more than a couple of minutes in a single docking session, a thruster can get hot enough to open its thermal overload relay and will then be inoperative for 10-15 minutes while cooling. HELE MAI OPERATING MANUAL NW Explorations...

50-amp connection and the generator have a three-wire plus ground connection: Two “Hot” wires and one “Neutral” plus ground. From either “Hot” to “Neutral” is 120-volts! In the photo, we have readings of barely over 110-volts and almost no current. HELE MAI OPERATING MANUAL NW Explorations...
Page 28
The fact is, these voltages are “arbitrary” values! It depends upon the shore-side utility or boat generator settings, as well as the amount of load on the cable or generator. In the “real world”, it doesn’t matter as long as it’s at least about 105 or volts! HELE MAI OPERATING MANUAL NW Explorations...

The generator monitors its own operation, detecting any loss in oil pressure or any overheating. If either occurs, the generator shuts itself off, and will not keep running when you try to restart it. HELE MAI OPERATING MANUAL NW Explorations...
